Peter Pan Jr. Delights!

Peter Pan Jr.

The performance of Peter Pan Jr. delighted audiences on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Fourth and fifth graders transported us to Neverland –  where we truly believed we could fly, where dreams became reality and where the idea of never growing up seemed simply irresistible!   Thank you to the many parents and teachers for helping to make this an amazing learning experience. To our wonderful singers, actors and dancers, we say a mighty, BRAVO!

ES Report Cards

Trimester Two Report Cards were uploaded to Powerschool this afternoon and are now ready for parents to view and download.  In Trimester 2, the ES report card measures learning in all areas. There are no comments given in Trimester 2.  The report card in Trimester 3 will contain both measures and comments from teachers.

You will need your log-on details for Powerschool to access your child’s report card.  If you experience difficulty, or you cannot remember your log-on details, please contact our Ed Tech department at vinitp@isb.ac.th or trins@isb.ac.th .

ES After School Activities

This Semester’s After School Activity program will begin on Monday, February 29th. ES ASA locations and availability will be posted daily outside the CAO (near the book store) as from Monday, February 29th.

Confirmations of ASA placement are available online. Please log in to your child’s Powerschool page, click Activities (on the left Bar) and then you’ll be able to see the confirmed activities and the location. If you experience difficulty, or you cannot remember your log-on details, please contact our Ed Tech department at vinitp@isb.ac.th or trins@isb.ac.th .

There are still limited spaces available in some of our ASA. You can still register at the CAO but don’t delay! Remember, once the ASA schedule begins there are NO REFUNDS however, you may change your ASA choice once it is before your third session. If you have any question or concerns, I’ll be at the office on Monday, February 29 from 7:30-9:30.

ISB Health Alert: Chickenpox

We have had a few children diagnosed with Chickenpox over the last week.

If you child develops a rash please keep them home and take them to see a doctor to see if it is Chickenpox.

Children who have been vaccinated against Chickenpox (varicella) can still get the disease but it tends to be milder (fewer symptoms, shorter duration and not as contagious to other).  Any student diagnosed with an infectious disease must present a medical certificate stating they are no longer contagious prior to returning to class.

Please see here for more  information

Our annual Student-Led conferences are coming up on March 10 and 11.   More information will come to you when we are closer to this date, but as a head’s up for new parents, there is no school on these dates for ES students.  Students will, however, be involved in their conference time on one of the two dates.

How can we support our children’s development as mathematicians?  How to Learn Math: For Parents and Teachers is an online MOOC (massive open online course) through Stanford University that is taught by professor Jo Boaler, author of Mathematical Mindsets and What’s Math Got to Do With It?  This 8-session, self-paced course has received positive reviews from both parents and teachers. Kim Bentley will be hosting a discussion group for parents interested in processing the big ideas and questions that come up throughout the course. (Repeat) Grade 5 Book Sale

The Grade 5 Used Book Sale is an annual event that takes place in April. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Mercy Center in Klong Toey, where the money is used to support the underprivileged in attending school.

If you have any used books or magazines that are in good condition, we would love to help you recycle these books while at the same time contributing to such a worthwhile cause. Books can be put in the drop boxes located outside of the ES Library and Main Office.

Please be aware of what you are donating. They can be adult, teen, or children books, fiction and non-fiction. However, it would be great if you could refrain from giving any text books, instruction manuals, or books that are out-of-date.
