GCW Week Wraps up
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
It is hard to believe that after months and months of planning by many dedicated teachers, support staff and contracted companies, GCW will finish up this weekend! The first of our trips arrived back late last night and the last will land in Thailand on Sunday.
Our students will each have their own unique stories to tell about the experiences that they have had over the past week. Our goal is that there remains a common theme of developing an appreciation of the cultural richness of our world. Some of our trips are heavy on the service aspect, others build on developing a cultural understanding of the places each course visits. All of this has happened in an environment where our students have interacted with other students whom they may not have every been around and with teachers whom they may not have known, the social learning that goes on in this week is invaluable.
Please take the time to listen to your child’s stories and help them reflect on the learning that they have encountered during GCW. In the coming week on Tuesday, each GCW group will meet for the final time and reflect on their trip. Students will hand in these reflections during this final GCW meeting; please encourage your child to share this with you before Tuesday to get a window into their week’s learning.
I would also like to thank all our teachers for this week and the time they have dedicated away from home to provide such a great opportunity.
Advisory Specialist Parent Information Session
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
You may have seen this session advertised from our PTA, but once again we would like to invite all parents on Thursday, February 18th from 9:30 -10:20 to meet in MPB2. This is an opportunity to meet with Steve Barrett, an advisory consultant, who is helping ISB establish a strong Advisory Program.
Steve will be assisting us in creating our program and wants to better understand the needs of our community, he is planning to lead this interactive session which aims to gather parent input into this initiative as ISB continues to strengthen the home-school connection.
Mark your calendars and please plan to attend this meeting, because your feedback is important and needed!
Grade 10 Course Selection Evening – Monday 29th February 6:30pm MPB
Philip Rogers
philr@isb.ac.th
Please save the evening to come along with your grade 10 child to speak with grade 11 course teachers about the different options available in grade 11.
The transition from grade 10 to 11 is the time when students have the most choice available about what courses they can study. It can prove to be hard to make these choices and we hope that having the opportunity to talk to teachers will help that decision to be an informed one.
Please come along!
