On Monday to Thursday next week, November 16-19, a visiting consultant from the Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) organization will meet with students in grades 9 to 12.

The sessions will focus on the health risks of alcohol and substance use on the developing teenage brain, possible long term addiction problems tied to early use, social norms and the misconceptions about teenage behavior, and strategies for maintaining healthy choices.

Grade 9’s will meet in Freshman Seminar on Monday and Tuesday. For Grade 10-12 there will be a number of drop in possibilities for students throughout Monday until Thursday and each class will meet after school (Monday -Sophomore, Tuesday – Juniors, Wednesday – Seniors).

As part of this visit Stephanie Kootsikas from FCD will also give a parent presentation on Wednesday morning, 9.30-10.15am in MPB 3, immediately following the Child Safeguarding presentation that will be held at 8am in MPB 1.
