ES Parent Education Workshop – Raising Multilinguals

Friday, October 16th, 7.30am – 8.30am, ESMPR.  ES EAL teachers will host a workshop for all parents of multilingual children.   This workshop will guide parents on how to best support their children’s language development now and in the future.  We’ll look at strategies, share ideas, and consider how to make a language plan.  Join us!

NaNoWriMo and Parent Workshop

If your child is participating in NaNoWriMo this year, please consider coming along to our ‘NaNoWriMo for Parents Workshop’ in the ES MPR on 28th October from 7:30 to 8:30am. This will be an opportunity to ask questions, familiarise yourself with the NaNoWriMo experience, and learn how to best support your child at home throughout this project. For more information, click here.

ES After School Activities

Most of ASA have already hosted their 3rd session so there are no longer any changes permitted. There are few limited spaces available in some of our ASA: Yoga, Girls Accessories, Toy Making, Soccer and more.

I am in the office daily from 1:30pm – 3:30pm if you have any questions or concerns.

Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?

The weekly ES Menu is posted on the Parent Portal each Friday for the following week.  It includes all the dietary/ allergy information one may need, such as Vegetarian (V), Gluten Free (GF), Dairy Free (DF), Egg Free (EF) and Fish Ingredient (F).  Each lunch serving accommodates all allergies and dietary restrictions.  As we are a nut free campus, this information will not appear on the menu.  It can be found under the ISB Website – Parent Portal – Elementary- Cafeteria – Menu.  We strongly encourage all ES parents, especially those of younger kids, to print off the menu each week, post it in a very visible spot, and have a quick review of that particular day before coming to school.  This way your children can already have in mind what kinds of items they are going to chose that day before approaching the buffet at the Cafeteria.  The more the kids are informed about their choices in advance, the better the choices they will make at lunch, helping them become responsible, knowledgeable and healthy consumers as they grow.  For any further information needed, please contact Michelle atcafeteria@isb.ac.th. Enjoy.

(Repeat) International Day – Friday, October 30

International Day is a ‘hands-on’ learning day to celebrate ISB’s rich intercultural diversity. Many of our ES classrooms are ‘transformed’ by parents into country themed rooms so that our students can celebrate different cultures, food, dress, language, music, geography, throughout the day.

A few details for parents:

  • Students are welcome to dress representing their home country to school on International Day
  • Students are invited to wear country t-shirts instead of their uniform or P.E. uniform in the week leading up to International Day.  A country t-shirt represents a country or place-visited with their family.
  • International Day begins with an Assembly. Parents are welcome to join the Assembly, as we are gathering in Rajendra Hall. Parents will need to be seated by 7.30am SHARP so that the Assembly can begin on time.

(Repeat) Elementary School International Day Volunteers Needed

ES International Day is set for Friday, 30 October, 2015.  This is a fun filled day for the elementary school when parents turn the classrooms into various countries represented here at ISB.  Students learn the history, heritage, and culture, of these countries through playing games, creating beautiful artwork, tasting new foods, and learning new languages.  This special day of learning only happens because of parent volunteers.  If you would like to be a part of the ES International Day team, please contact your country rep or ES PTA reps: Mindy Lorber mindylorber@gmail.com and Verena Petzinnaverena19@yahoo.com
