Parent Conferences

We hope you enjoyed meeting with teachers during the last few days. Both teachers and parents have expressed how conversations have helped nurture learning partnerships and set goals for the year ahead.  We look forward to continuing this year’s learning journey with your child in the weeks and months ahead and thank you for your involvement in the process – we know from research that it makes a significant difference!

ES Parent Education Workshop – Kelso’s Choices

Thursday, October 8, from 7.30am – 9.00a.m, MPB1 (top of the zig-zag).  ES Counselors will conduct a workshop for all ES parents regarding Kelso’s Choices, the conflict resolution program we have adopted this year in all grades, PK-5. Come meet fellow parents and learn how we are equipping children with the skills to solve their own conflicts, and know when to seek the help of adults for bigger problems.  Best of all, parents will learn how the same program can also be used at home.

ES PTA Meeting – Thursday October 8, 9:15 am, MPB1

At 9am, Following the Kelso’s Choices Parent Workshop, coffee and snacks will be served. Then at 9:15am the Elementary School PTA meeting will take place. ES Out of Uniform/Black and Gold Dress Days – October 8 and 9

These two days are Out of Uniform/Black and Gold dress days in the Elementary School.  As we are hosting IASAS Volleyball and Cross Country sports on these days, ES students are invited to come dressed in their Panther black and gold gear or in out of uniform clothing, in line with dress guidelines outlined in our ES Parent/Student Handbook.  Go Panthers!

ES After School Activities

After School Activities are well underway. There are few limited spaces available in some of our ASA. Remember once the ASA schedule begins there are NO REFUNDS. Most ASA have already hosted their 2nd session so there are no longer any changes permitted.  Please note that Tuesday, October 6th is an early release day so all ASA will take place one hour earlier from 1:15pm-2:15pm.

I am in the office daily from 1:30pm – 3:30pm if you have any questions or concerns.

International Day – Friday, October 30

International Day is a ‘hands-on’ learning day to celebrate ISB’s rich intercultural diversity. Many of our ES classrooms are ‘transformed’ by parents into country themed rooms so that our students can celebrate different cultures, food, dress, language, music, geography, throughout the day.

A few details for parents:

  • Students are welcome to dress representing their home country to school on International Day.
  • Students are invited to wear country t-shirts instead of their uniform or P.E. uniform in the week leading up to International Day.  A country t-shirt represents a country or place-visited with their family.
  • International Day begins with an Assembly. Parents are welcome to join the Assembly, as we are gathering in Rajendra Hall. Parents will need to be seated by 7.30am SHARP so that the Assembly can begin on time.

(Repeat) ISB Parent Workshop on Social and Emotional Learning: October 7

We are excited about this upcoming learning opportunity for ISB parents: Using the Science of a Meaningful Life To Cultivate Social and Emotional Well-being in Children.  Please see details here

(Repeat) Elementary School International Day Volunteers Needed

ES International Day is set for Friday, 30 October, 2015.  This is a fun filled day for the elementary school when parents turn the classrooms into various countries represented here at ISB.  Students learn the history, heritage, and culture, of these countries through playing games, creating beautiful artwork, tasting new foods, and learning new languages.  This special day of learning only happens because of parent volunteers.  If you would like to be a part of the ES International Day team, please contact your country rep or ES PTA reps: Mindy Lorber mindylorber@gmail.com and Verena Petzinnaverena19@yahoo.com
