Missed Learning

For a child to reach their full educational achievement a high level of school attendance is essential. We are committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all our students and endeavor to provide an environment where all students feel valued and welcome. Parents and students play a part in making our school so successful.
For your child to take full advantage of the educational opportunities offered it is vital your child is at school, on time to school and for every class. The routines children develop around attendance and punctuality at school are the same as the expectations of any future employer. High attainment, happiness and future aspirations depend on good attendance.

We expect that all students will:

  • attend school regularly
  • attend school on time
  • attend school appropriately prepared for the day
  • discuss promptly with their teacher and/or Counselor any problems that prevent them from being at school and on time for class

PROMOTING GOOD ATTENDANCE and TIMEKEEPING

The foundation for good attendance is a strong partnership between the school, parents and the child.  Attending school and being punctual is strongly correlated with student attainment and personal wellbeing. These are important skills for middle schoolers to develop in learning responsibility, commitment and reliability.

Responsibilities of Parents

  • Support the school with their child in aiming for 100% attendance each year.
  • Check Powerschool so you can monitor your childs tardies/lates to class
  • Try to avoid keeping your child off school for minor ailments – particularly those that would not prevent you from going to work.
  • Arrange appointments and outings after school hours, at weekends or during school holidays will help to prevent disruption to your child’s education and to the school
  • Help your child set good routines for homework and sleep. Your child should be aiming for 9.5 hours of sleep per night. When the lights go out, technology, mobile devices, should too.
  • Turn to us for help, we are here if you or your family are having difficulties, please speak with your childs counselor so we can help you.
  • For any ‘special leave’ for important family events, sporting commitments etc please make this request via our Dean of Students Mr Tico Oms ticoo@isb.ac.th
