Grade 9
This week in Freshman Seminar students had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Rogers, Dean of Academics and discuss academic programs and opportunities at ISB. Parts of his discussion focused on attributes needed for success in future studies and life pursuits. Time management strategies and helpful resources were also discussed this week. If you get the opportunity, please ask your child to review the Timetracker that was created during the Seminar.

Grade 10
Monday, September 14th is the first Sophomore Seminar.  This year, the 10th graders are going to explore their strengths, assess what they are good at, and see what people who share their strengths and likes do for a living.  It’s a good way to think about what a person might want to study in order to pursue a happy, productive career and life!  On Monday we’ll do the Via Character Strengths Survey to find each student’s top character strengths.  You can read more about it (and take the survey yourself if you’d like) at https://www.viacharacter.org/www/ Be sure and ask your son or daughter next week what their top five character strengths are!

Grade 11
Junior Seminar #1 took place on Thursday, September 10 during Flex. The focus of the seminar was on the importance of Grade 11, reviewing the role of the High School Counselor, reviewing individual student character strengths, how to prepare for the college/university search process (Testing, meeting with university representatives, etc.), and completing surveys on what they are looking for in a college/university. The surveys that the Juniors were give are due back to the Counseling Office by Wednesday, September 16.

Grade 12
Senior year is in full swing with activities, athletics, service, academics, and university visitors. Thank you for continuing to offer your Senior positive support and encouragement.  Luckily, there is a long weekend right around the corner. The next 3 weeks will be packed with a large number of university visits and fairs. If a student plans on applying to a university that is visiting, they need to plan to attend.
