Vaccinations for Middle School Aged Children

We all tend to remember to give our children their routine childhood vaccinations up to age 5 years. Did you know that there are vaccinations recommended for middle school age children?

The CDC recommends Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) x3 and Meningococcal C vaccinations for children aged 11-12 years with a booster Meningococcal C vaccination at 16 years. They also recommend Hepatitis A vaccination if not already immune and annual Influenza vaccination.

Given that we are living in an area with seasonal Japanese Encephalitis you may want to consider this vaccination too.

Whilst these vaccinations are not required as part of the ISB admission it is certainly worth considering giving them to your child for their overall well being.

The CDC recommendations can be found here.

All the above vaccinations are available at the Bumrungrad Nichada Clinic but may need to be ordered from the hospital. Please confirm they will be available when you make your child’s appointment.

If you do vaccinate your child please send the Health Clinic an updated record for your child’s file.

ISB is committed to your child’s overall development, both educationally and health related. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your healthcare provider or the ISB Health Clinic (nurse@isb.ac.th).
