Open House
On behalf of the ES Faculty, thank-you for joining us for Open House event last night. We trust you enjoyed meeting teachers and hearing about the learning year ahead for your child(ren). We are excited to get started.
Early Dismissal – Tuesday September 1
All ISB students will be dismissed at 1pm on Tuesday, September 1. On Early Dismissal Days, school buses will leave ISB at 1:15 p.m. Early Dismissal Days allow faculty members and administrators to collaborate and further their professional development.
ES ‘Out of Uniform’ Day – September 3 and 4
These two days are ‘Out of Uniform’ days in the Elementary School. On PE days, students need to wear their PE uniforms. On their non PE day, students may choose to not wear their ISB uniform.
Appropriate dress guidelines for our ‘Out of Uniform’ days are:
- Pants/slacks/shorts—good condition
- Shirts/blouses—sleeves & midriff required, appropriate logos only
- Skirts/dresses/jumpers—sleeves required, modest length
- Shoes—sneakers, street shoes or leather sandals with back strap
- Hats must be worn all the time when playing outside during recess or during PE classes.

New ES Parent Training – Thursday, September 3, 2015, 8.30 – 10am
The ES Learning Coaches cordially invite new elementary parentsto attend a Parent Training onThursday, September 3rd from8:30 – 10:00 a.m. in the ESMPR, followingthe ES PTA Parent Meeting. Our aim is to provide new parents with overviews of different curriculum content areas and learn about specifics such as ISB’s technology Acceptable Use Policy, about e-learning, and our approaches to teaching math, reading & writing through a workshop model. We look forward to seeing you then.
Elementary School International Day Volunteers Needed
ES International Day is set for Friday, 30 October, 2015. This is a fun filled day for the elementary school when parents turn the classrooms into various countries represented here at ISB. Students learn the history, heritage, and culture, of these countries through playing games, creating beautiful artwork, tasting new foods, and learning new languages. This special day of learning only happens because of parent volunteers. Come Fly with Peter Pan Jr.!
We’re excited for our 2015-2016 ES Musical production of Peter Pan Jr. on February 17 and 18. The production is open to all students in Grade 4 and 5. While rehearsals are months away, planning is already underway for this exciting theater experience for the ISB community. ES After School Activities
This semester’s After School Activity (ASA) program will begin on September 21st. Important dates for you to note in your calendar:
August 28th – Activity Listing & important registration information to be found in your child’s Friday folder. The ASA booklet will also be available online via the ISB parent portal. This is also where you register for ASA.
August 28th-September 2nd – Printed registration forms along with exact payment can be dropped in the red drop box in the CAO.
September 11th – Confirmations of ASA placement will be sent home via the Friday Folder.
September 21st – After School Activities begin!

Strings Starts Next Week
It is now time to register for Elementary Strings! Grade 4 and 5 students interested in playing the violin, viola, cello, or bass this year should register online on the ISB Elementary School Music Blog:inside.isb.ac.th/esmusic/es-strings/
Registration will remain open until Monday August 31, and the first day of Elementary Strings will be Monday September 7.
Elementary Strings is for both absolute beginners as well as students with prior experience.

U11 Sports
U11 Sports will begin on Monday next week (Oct 31) for Cross Country and Basketball. Please see this link for details.
Girl Scouts Registration Night – September 2
The Girl Scout mission is “to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” Come learn how Girl Scouts USA in Thailand does this at our parent information and registration night on Wednesday, September 2, at 7 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building. Girl Scouts is open to girls of all nationalities and backgrounds. We encourage parents to join in the experience by volunteering with their daughters’ troops and helping with special events. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night!

Choir Starts Next Week
The ES music department is delighted to open choir registration for the 2015-2016 school year. Two year-long ensembles are offered to ES students and meet Wednesdays from 2:15-3:15. The Panther Chorus (Grade 4 and 5) will start September 3. The Junior Panther Choir (Grade 2 and 3) will start September 23.
Both choirs will perform several times throughout the year including school assemblies and evening concerts. To register your child for either group please fill out this form here. Click here to see a calendar for both ensembles for the first half of the year.
(Repeat) Grade 4 and Grade 5, Send Your Recorder In!
Students in Grade 4 and 5 will start working with recorder in the next couple of music classes. Some students already have their recorder at school, but if your child brought their recorder home over the Summer, they need to bring it back to school. If you Grade 4 or 5 child is new to ISB and does not have a recorder, they are available for purchase at the ISB bookstore for 138 baht.
