High School Open House
Philip Bradley
philipb@isb.ac.th

We cordially invite you to our annual Open House on Thursday the 10th of September. Parents will have the opportunity to attend classes according to their son’s or daughter’s schedule. In this way we hope that you will gain much useful information about the courses your son/s and daughter/s are taking and understand more about the learning environment we foster at ISB. This in turn will allow you more opportunities to engage in learning focused conversations with your child/children.

Please plan on arriving shortly after 6:00 p.m. As you arrive make your way to the front of Chevron Theater. In front of the Theater you will collect an individualized schedule for each of your children – this will guide you throughout the evening with details on periods, teachers and locations.

There will be a technology session starting at 6:15 p.m. in the Chevron Theater – this will cover a lot of helpful information for parents so that we are better able to support our children.

At 6:30 p.m. there will be an introductory assembly held in the Chevron Theater.

From 7:00 – 9:10 p.m. parents will follow the eight period HS schedule.

A timeline for the Class of 2016 can be accessed here.  Access the new university site here along with a link to see upcoming university visits.

Senior University Lab will begin Monday, August 31.

Applying to the UK? Students are required to attend a UCAS registration meeting and presentation on August 31 during flex. We ask that they not begin their UCAS registration until this meeting.

Applying to the US? Students are required to attend a Common App “party” held on Tuesday, September 1 (early dismissal day) from 1:15 to 3:00 in the MPB only if applying to the US.

We greatly appreciate your support to ensure your Senior participates in the wealth of opportunities provided to assist them in their university application process. Their lives are filling up with activities, schoolwork, and friends. Any help you can provide in assisting them to maintain balance and a healthy outlook, will go a long way.

Grade 11
We hope your students’ year is off to a good start.  It is important that your child maintains balance in their personal/social and academic lives.

University representatives have begun their visits to ISB.  We strongly encourage your student to meet with representatives of schools they are interested in attending.

Grade 10
Each counselor has met with their new Grade 10 students as a group over the past couple of weeks.  We are looking forward to getting to know them over the course of this school year.  Our first Sophomore Seminar will be September 14.

Grade 9
This week 9th graders are settling into their courses and developing a grasp of what is to be expected of them. Our teachers do a nice job of easing our freshmen into the school year and high school. Many 9th grade students have been discussing or have already joined clubs, teams and activities. This Thursday we also had the Club Fair which provided good information and opportunities for students to get involved in different areas of high school life. During Freshman Seminar this week Mr. Bell provided an interactive session for library and technology use.

Week 2 of Freshman Life complete:)
