Students Accessing Campus on Motorbikes and Golf Carts.
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
For any student accessing ISB on a Golf Cart or Motorbike, the student needs to meet the conditions listed below. ISB follows all Thai Laws and Nichada Thani regulations regarding Vehicle Use.
- All motorbike, ATV and golf cart drivers must be 15 years of age or older and have a valid Thai motorbike license to drive on the streets of Nichada Thani or anywhere on the ISB campus.
- Thai law states that individuals between the age of 15 and 18 are only allowed to drive motorbikes, ATVs and golf carts with engines up to 110 cc of power.
- All individuals driving or riding on a motorbike must wear an appropriate motorcycle helmet and the helmet straps must be fastened.
- Al students driving a motorbike on campus, must complete the ‘Scooter/Motorcycles Registration Form’ from the High School Office, which will provide the student with two parking stickers, which they can attach to the front of their helmet and the front of their motorbike.
- Students wanting to access the school on a Golf Cart must gain a Golf Cart pass from Khun Usa’s (Headmistress) office and show their valid thai motorbike licence so that they can have a sticker attached to the back of their ID, which will need to be shown as they access campus.
- Middle and Elementary aged students are not permitted to operate any motorised vehicle on the ISB Campus.
From Monday next week students accessing the front gate of ISB on motorised vehicles will be checked for a valid pass. Any student without a valid pass will not be able to enter the campus on such a vehicle.

We would like to congratulate all High School students who made the Honor Roll and High Honor Roll, semester 2 2014/15. This achievement speaks to their persistence and dedication as scholars. I would also like to recognize the work of their teachers and support they have received from home. All the High Honors and Honors students names are attached. (see enclosed).
Counseling News

jackiev@isb.ac.th
General Reminder: The last day for students to make changes to their schedule is Tuesday, August 25.
Grade 12
Thank you for attending the Senior Parent Night last night. We hope you found it helpful and were able to get some focus for the following months as students apply to university. A meeting was held after school for seniors who met with their counselor and received similar information as parents. A timeline for the Class of 2016 can be access here.
We are excited to launch a new website for university advising that will be linked on the ISB website, the Program of Studies, and within Naviance. The site also includes a blog where counselors will share information and trending articles the community may find useful. Access the site here.
Senior University Lab will begin Monday, August 31. This is a great resource for kids to work on their applications, essays, and get feedback from counselors. Labs are held during flex every Monday in room 203.
Applying to the UK? Students should attend a UCAS registration meeting and presentation on August 31 during flex.
Applying to the US? Students should attend a Common App “party” held on Tuesday, September 1 (early dismissal day) from1:15 to 3:00 in the MPB.
We greatly appreciate your support to ensure your Senior participates in the wealth of opportunities provided to assist them in their university application process.
Grade 11
We know many of your students are just beginning the IB Diploma program. If they have any questions about their course choices please ask them to stop by and speak with their counselor.
Grade 10
We are just completing the first full week of school, and hopefully all the students are satisfied with their schedules and are organized for the busy year ahead. If students are struggling with issues in or out of school, it is best to see a counselor now rather than let things get worse before they are addressed. Counselors will have met with their 10th grade students by early next week, so that the students will be familiar with who their counselor will be for the next three years. We’re all looking forward to a productive and satisfying year working with your student!
Grade 9
This week was our first full week of courses and as a whole I would say that our 9th graders are off to a good start. I have encountered many asking good questions and seeking help when needed. It was great to witness many within the class taking care of each other, especially new students.
In Freshman Seminar this week we had two sessions. The first session was a focus on important information from our school handbook (What is HAL – Habits and Attitudes of Learning and why is it important, How does the the grading system work in H.S?, etc.). In addition, we explored values and attributes of individuals they admire. This is all interwoven at a later date with exploration of personal strengths and the defining of success.
Here is a link to our freshman seminar sessions that run for the first semester:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_c32vcH8_0odVMwbkxpc3NxSjA/view?usp=sharing

Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?
Michelle Mueller Ihrig
cafeteria@isb.ac.th
…Approximately 98% of what we serve in the Cafeterias across campus are home baked, hand cut, hand grate, home cooked, and hand prepared by us every morning. This includes all the items at The Grind, the hamburger buns for BBQ Friday, the baguette bread for the sandwiches, the tortillas for the ES Canteen, the homemade Chicken & Vegetable Stock for all the Soups, the Pineapple Juice for our Punch, our slow brewed Iced Tea, and the Home Roasted meats for our sandwich bar. We believe that Basic is Best. Food in its basic form carries the most amount of nutrients for our bodies and is optimally digested, hence allowing us the maximum benefits from the foods we eat. Epicure Catering welcomes a fresh delivery of produce and meats daily, striving to use recipes with only the most natural ingredients. We look forward to another year of providing well balanced, nutritious, tasty meals to all of our very eager and hungry customers, mainly your kids. Enjoy.

NBBL Community Basketball for High School students
Kevin Sypoilt
ksypolt@gmail.com
We have made a change to the NBBL Community Basketball season. The high school players (both boys and girls) will now play 1st season. So that means now until the ISB October break. We are hoping that more players will be interested in participating as kind of a pre-season before the IASAS/BISAC season for Varsity and JV.
The plan is to play at least once per week, most likely on Saturdays. But we can play on Friday evenings if the players prefer. We can also organize a week night practice if there is enough interest by the players. We would also like to give the players more autonomy is running the league. NBBL will provide uniforms, referees and score keepers. But we will allow the players to run the games themselves.
Please go the NBBL home at https://inside.isb.ac.th/cao/2011/08/15/basketball/ and click on the High School registration link to register.
Please contact Kevin Sypoilt at ksypolt@gmail.com if you have any questions.
