Dear Parents,

Happy Songkran!  May you and your family enjoy the much deserved break.

Grade 12 – After Songkran, Seniors will have only 2 weeks left until their study leave begins. Seniors must let their counselor know of their university application decisions. If they need help looking at options and making decisions, counselors are more than happy to help! Remember that students can only deposit to ONE university (no double deposits). If a student is waitlisted at a university and still wants to be considered for a place should one become available, they should speak with their counselor about this. Most UK applicants should have decisions by now. They should pay close attention to deadlines for indicating their firm and insurance choices.

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, April 30 at 8:30am in the MPB#1. Counselors invite you to attend the Grade 12 Parent Transition Meeting.  This will be a good opportunity to look at preparing your son or daughter for the realities of transitioning to university as well as a chance for you to prepare for your own transition and adjustment. We look forward to seeing you! Please RSVP here.

Once IB exams are finished, Seniors are invited to a Senior Transition Day on Monday, May 25 from 7:20-2:05. A variety of activities and sessions are planned to help students as they begin to focus on their post high school transition.

Grade 11 – It’s a busy time in the school year with Junior Conferences, preparing for exams, and standardized tests. During the upcoming Songkran break we encourage students to take time to relax and recharge so they are ready for the final push to the end of the school year!

Grade 10 – We talk a lot about healthy, active, balanced lifestyles at ISB, but sometimes we get a little too ambitious about all the things we want to accomplish.  Slow down during the Songkran break, enjoy some down time, have a long face to face chat with a friend, watch a good movie, read a book about your favorite thing, and enjoy a meal with your entire family.  Time flies – enjoy the moment!

Grade 9 – 9th graders are asked for this coming Songkran Holiday to relax, have fun, and do whatever you do to “just be”!!!

Announcement for parents of current Grade 10 and 11 students – Your 10th and 11th graders were sent an email by the counselors on Wednesdayletting them know about a summer science program through Mahidol University.  The Institute of Molecular Biosciences offers a Student Science Training Program for high school students who want to advance their scientific knowledge and skills in molecular biology.  During the two week course (June 15-26) students will learn key scientific concepts and basic techniques in molecular biology with hands-on experience in the laboratory.

For additional information, including the application for the program, please have your son or daughter speak with Khun Mai in the counseling office.
