ES Parent Education workshop – Thurs. April 2, 2015, 7.30am – 9am
Math Mindset & Rethinking Fluency: Raising Kids Who Love Math
Join us on Thursday, April 2nd at 7:30 AM, for a Parent Training that will help you uncover your own mindset about Math. Learning coaches Sarah Fleming and Kim Bentley will be running an interactive, research-based session that will help us rethink the way we talk to our kids about math. We will unpack big questions such as:
- How do we cultivate a mindset for growth in Math?
- Why is this so important for our learners?
In addition, we will take a deep dive into a favorite topic for parents: computational fluency! We will unpack common myths of fluency, and share ideas of how fluency can be effectively supported at home.
ES PTA Meeting Postponed
The ES PTA meeting on April 2nd is postponed to Thursday, April 30th at 7:30 am in the new Middle School Skybox (this is on the 3rd floor across from the LDC).

ES ‘Out of Uniform’ Day—April 2 and 3, 2015
These two days are ‘Out of uniform’ days in the Elementary School. On PE days, students need to wear their PE uniforms. On their non PE day, students may choose to not wear their ISB uniform.
It’s Here! The ES ISB Book Awards and Character Dress-up days!
This year, we are showcasing books that highlight the “healthy, balanced and active learners” part of our mission statement. Stop by the HUB to see the HUB decorated in “Oscars” style to celebrate the winning selections. Students are encouraged to dress up as healthy, active, and/or balanced book characters during the April 2nd/ 3rd Free Dress Day. A photographer will be on hand to document students in their costumes–it would be helpful for children to bring the book their character comes from, if you have a copy at home. Looking forward to seeing all those healthy, active, balanced characters!

Cafeteria News… Did You Know…?
Yellow Mango Mania is Back!! There are actually some blessings that come along as the scorching hot season commences. One of the best is the naturally ripe, sweet fruit we can savor at this time. This would include the ‘King of Fruits’, the yellow mango. We’re whipping up fresh Seasonal Fruit Smoothies such as our Mango Madness, Mango Strawberry Kiss and Mango Blueberry Bang at the Grind. The health benefits of Mango are so numerous, we will only be able to mention a few: Mangoes are rich in antioxidants and alkalizing properties which help combat cancer causing agents, inflammation and other disease. They contain high levels of fiber and vitamin C which lower cholesterol and boost the immune system. Mangoes are high in vitamin A which improves vision. And if that is not yet enough, add our Superfoods, Organic Wheatgrass and Organic Ground Flaxseeds, to any smoothie to create the ultimate health boost, all in one cup! Enjoy.
