Dear ISB Parents,

For the 2015/16 school year, ISB will be accepting two additional students as part of our Thai Scholarship Program. This program is designed for highly capable Thai students whose families have a demonstrated financial need. The students will be enrolled in our High School in August 2015.

We are now looking for volunteers to provide housing for these students for the 2015/16 school year. Ideally we are seeking two different host families that:

• Live close to ISB
• Speak English at home
• Have a spare bedroom
• Have a HS child
• Would enjoy the experience of housing a scholarship student

Host families would be expected to provide food, lodging and some incidental expenses. The ISB Scholarship Fund would take care of uniforms, cafeteria meals, school trips, some clothes, school supplies, certain other incidentals and transportation costs home for holidays.

Athletics Director Appointment

I am very pleased to announce that Derrick Quinet will be ISB’s Athletics Director beginning August 2015. Derrick brings with him a wealth of experience having served as Athletics Director at Dulwich College (Shanghai), the International School of Kenya, the American School of Yaounde (Cameroon) and Mira International School (Kazakhstan). Derrick also worked as the Associate Athletics Director at the American School in London. Derrick has a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from Pitzer University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Michigan State University. As a student, Derrick was a talented basketball player (earning a college scholarship) and for two years he served as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Pomona College. With Harold Albert, Bob Connor and Kerry Dyke joining Derrick, we have an outstanding athletics team to work with our student-athletes.

I would like to thank the parents, coaches, students and administrators that helped in the interview process.

We are very grateful to Andy Vaughan for his tremendous leadership of ISB athletics and we know Andy will excel in his next role as HS Dean of Students.

Annual Staff Appreciation Lunch

The ISB staff has been working hard all year to make this school a great place for our kids to learn. To show our appreciation , the PTA hosts an annual “Staff Appreciation  Lunch” with food prepared and served by parent volunteers.

This year the lunch will be held, Wednesday, March 25, 2015. We need an abundance of food to feed over 550 hungry ISB employees (teachers, administrators, nurses and all support staff). Several food dishes are needed from all families to make this event a success….I really need your help! You can sign up for desserts, salads ,meat platters, appetizers or your own country specialty.

Please keep in mind a few guidelines:

1. Each dish should serve 12 people.

2.Dishes should be delivered between 9:00am and 9:30am on Wednesday, March 25th.

3.Dishes should be delivered in reusable containers with the owners name on it, teachers name and classroom number.

4. Please keep in mind that all dishes will be served at room temperature.

5. NO NUTS PLEASE.

Yindee, 6 years old boy, was rescued by ZOE from the child trafficking in northern part of Thailand. Yindee had no parents and no house. He now lives safely at ZOE home, in Chiengmai. He can smile and play. He is learning to trust. No more being sold!

Join 6^th year of Yoga Event with ISB families, community, and the Traffic Jam club, to raise awareness and funds for Anti-Trafficking Organization . The heart and the energy goes to

ZOE ChildrenHomes in Chiengmai.

ZOE rescues trafficking victims and safe them in family shelter. ZOE provides nutritional food, medical care, education, in a family-unit setting. Scholarship programs available for post-secondary education including college and specialized vocational training.

ISB Yogi parents will lead you to the family fun oriented yoga practice. Suggested donation: 500 Baht for adult, 200 Baht for kids, or any donation is appreciated.

5th Grade Book Sale

Dear Parents,

The 5^th grade book sale is a yearly sale put on by the 5^th graders with the help of the teachers, IAs, and parents.

The Funds raised from this Charity event support the Mercy Center in Klong Toey and pays for the education for many underprivileged kids who cannot afford education. Last year they raised close to B200,000.00. This year we, of course, would like to beat that amount.

Please start sending books and/or complete board games to school with your child. The book boxes are located around the school. You may also drop them in 5^th grade work room. (small room at the top of the stairs in the 5^th grade quad).

Submitting an announcement for publication
ISB accepts announcements from ISB families and ISB staff for potential publication in our eNewsletters. The announcements are generally intended to highlight events that occur at ISB and/or highlight information about ISB.

What to include in the announcement

• An image or photo (optional)
