Maka Bucha Day School Holiday
Wednesday March 4, 2015 is Maka Bucha Day. No school. Classes resume on Thursday March 5th. It will be an ‘F’ day.
Elementary School Report Cards
Report Cards are ready to download as of Friday, Feb. 27 afternoon. As you know, ES Report Cards will no longer be printed, but instead, be available to parents to view or download through Powerschool. Parents were sent log-on details for Powerschool via email and in Friday Folders last week. You will need this to access your child’s report card.
If you have trouble accessing your child’s report card, please contact K. Vinit vinitp@isb.ac.th or K. Golf trins@isb.ac.th or come along to a drop-in session being held in the ESMPR on Monday, March 2 at 7.30am-8:30 am.
Another change for this reporting period is that as a norm, specialist comments will be written for trimesters 1 and 3 only (for Art, Music, PE, WL). Individual comments for students can be written for trimester 2 by the specialist if needed. As always, if you have concerns or questions about your child’s progress, you may arrange an appointment with a teacher at any time throughout the year.
Student Led Conferences – March 12, 13
We are looking forward to welcoming you to school for Student Led Conferences
on March 12 and 13. These conferences provide students with an opportunity to communicate and reflect deeply about their learning. Having students lead the conference keeps them at the center of the learning process and helps students and parents:
• celebrate achievements
• acknowledge learning challenges
• consider how learning habits and attitudes have changed, and
• set learning goals for the future
Individualized letters for making appointments for student led conferences were sent home with students today. Please be aware that the online scheduler Pick-a-Time will open at 8am this coming Monday, March 2 until 2pm on Tuesday March 10 .
You will need your child’s ISB Student ID number and birth date to register, provided in the letter set home today. To get to the Conference Scheduler, please open this link and then follow the directions below.
How to Register
- Click on or open the link provided above.
- Click “Login/Create Account”
- Fill in the required fields and register.

How to Schedule Appointments

- Each colored square represents an available meeting time. The legend shows you what teacher corresponds to what color. Click on a square to schedule that time
- Then click on “Create Appointment”.
- Repeat until you have a time with each teacher you’d like to visit with.
- You can click on the “Printable Schedule” link located on the top right corner and print the resulting web page to get a hard copy of your schedule.
Please be sure to book individual appointments with specialists teachers for each of your children.
Student Led Conference Tips for Parents:
- Please give your child your full attention. Switching off mobile phones is greatly appreciated.
- Taking photographs can be distracting to your child. Please save photos until the end of the conference.
- You and your child do not need to use English. Please feel free to communicate in your home language.
- When listening to your child, please give positive feedback and share your observations about the learning that has taken place.
- If your child seems a little nervous or shy, just give them time and ask guiding questions about what they are showing you.
- Remember that something may seem very small to you, but it may have been a huge achievement for a Pre-K child!
- Most importantly enjoy this focused time with your child.
ES Parent Education Workshop – March 5, 2015
Habits and Attitudes for Learning: one of the keys to academic success
Recent research has shown that intelligence alone is not enough for academic success: Habits and Attitudes for Learning are just as important. At ISB we recognize the need to develop such habits and attitudes in our students so that they can become successful, fulfilled adults.
Please join us in the ESMPR on Thursday 5th March at 7:30am to learn how you as a parent can help your child to develop skills such as responsibility, engagement, collaboration and self regulation.
ES PTA Parent Meeting – cancelled
The ES PTA meeting due to take place on Thursday March 5 at 9.30am, following the ES Parent Education Workshop has been cancelled.
