Message from the Principal
Philip Bradley
philipb@isb.ac.th
On behalf of the High School faculty and staff
I would like to wish you all a peaceful, relaxing and safe vacation. For the students this is a much-needed break after a semester of hard work and study. I hope you get to spend time together with loved ones and that you find a few moments to enjoy the change in routine. For those of you travelling I hope things go smoothly.
We look forward to seeing students refreshed and ready to learn on Monday January 12th. One reminder you can give to your son/s and daughter/s was my request that they read at least one book for pleasure!
For those families leaving ISB at this time we wish you success in all your future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Philip Bradley
PowerSchool Access and Report Cards
Phil Rogers
philr@isb.ac.th
PowerSchool access will return for parents and students on December 20th. Families with outstanding fees, missing materials, or unresolved payment issues will not be given access until the issue(s) is/are resolved.
In an effort to be more greener and timely we issue report cards through the PowerSchool Quick Lookup page. On the Quicklook Up page use the link at the top right to access a PDF report card for your son/daughter. The report can be saved and filed electronically and or printed.
If there is a report card hold in place, please resolve the issue with the appropriate department and then take the paperwork to the HS Office who can make the necessary changes in Powerschool.
Possible Schedule Changes
Phil Rogers
philr@isb.ac.th
In general students retain the same schedule for second semester. In some cases, due to changes in course choice, addition of semester courses, or other factors, a student’s schedule may be slightly different next semester. In these cases we do the best we can to keep the same teachers for each student. Students will be provided with their Semester 2 schedule on the first day of school.

Dear Parents,
Congratulations!!! Semester one is over!!! Please encourage your son or daughter to rest and relax, read a book for pleasure. Enjoy and rejuvenate!!
Grade 12 – It’s been a busy semester! Thank you to Seniors and their parents for continued communication and support during this time. As more application decisions continue to roll in, please update the appropriate counselor.
Most Seniors are experiencing the “waiting game.” Some are waiting to apply to university because they have later deadlines (Korea, Australia, etc.). Others are waiting for application decisions. And some are just waiting for the next chapter of their life to begin. This can be an unsettling time. Here is an article with some advice for students on navigating this time. Early Decision and College Admission: Waiting is Hard. While the article is discusses Early Decision, it still provides some good advice for all Seniors. This is another resource on the parent role in the “waiting game”. WAITING FOR THE COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE LETTER: HOW PARENTS CAN HELP Congratulations to those Seniors who have graduated this week and are moving on to their next journey. We wish you much success.
Grade 11 –Reminder- The Junior Packet is to be completed by February 2. If your son/daughter did not attend the Junior Seminar and/or not receive the Junior Packet, they should have seen their counselor. Parents- Don’t forget, there’s homework for you too!! (Parent Perspective)
Grade 10 – Have a great break and do something nice for yourself and your family! We’re all looking forward to seeing you in January, but for now, enjoy yourselves and be safe and happy!
Grade 9 –Well done to the Class of 2018 on the completion of their first high school semester. There has been so much growth already in their high school voyage. 9th graders are encouraged to relax, pick up a few good books for reading pleasure and recharge the batteries for semester 2.

All we want for Christmas….
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
Christmas Holidays are a fantastic time for our students to break from the routine of school; disconnecting from study and connecting with family. While this is a great chance to relax, all our second season coaches only ask one thing for Christmas… that our student athletes keep their fitness focus over the break. Maintaining a good level of fitness in these upcoming three weeks will ensure that our athletes come back ready to achieve their best in their upcoming BISAC and IASAS tournaments.
In our first weekend back from the break our Varsity Basketball, Touch, Rugby and Tennis Teams will compete in the BISAC U19 Tournaments, of which ISB will host the Varsity Girls, U19 Basketball Tournament. Semester two is action packed with a home IASAS for Rugby/Touch & Swimming from 29 January – 1 February and BISAC U17 Tournaments also taking place on 1st and 2nd February.
As soon as season two wraps up, we get right into season three the following week with try outs starting on the Tuesday before GCW trips head away. As a reminder, SEASON THREE IASAS TEAMS WILL RETURN FROM IASAS ON MONDAY 13 APRIL, ONE DAY LATER THAN NORMAL AND INTO SONGKRAN BREAK. Please ensure that you take this into consideration when booking flights and accommodation for Songkran Break.
We wish all athletes a good break and safe travels during the holiday.
Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?

Every holiday and special occasion has a foundation built on traditions. The majority of these traditions are centered around food. Especially when we think of a New Years Eve Celebration, many traditions around the world include food which symbolize luck, prosperity, health and good fortune. Items to be found on such a Menu may be: Pork– it brings good luck and favorable fortune. If you are not a meat eater, so will any other treat in the shape of a pig do the same thing; Fish Scales or any dish with fish which symbolizes silver, hence precious metals of fine fortune; Bread or Cakes with trinkets baked inside, those who are lucky enough to end up with the trinket are the recipient of good fortune and luck; Eating 12 Grapes at the stroke of midnight, a good luck forecast grape for each month; Eating long, uncut noodles at 12 o’clock for an equally long life. From all of us at Epicure Catering, we hope you have a fantastic New Years Celebration which will bring you into the New Year with all the Well Wishes you desire, whatever your Menu may be. Enjoy.
