Season One is coming to a close for all our Under 17 teams this weekend as they compete in the BISAC U17 Soccer tournaments hosted at Bangkok Patana School by Thai Chinese International School and and the Girls and Boys U17 Volleyball tournaments, which are hosted at International Community School and NIST International school respectively. We wish our Under 17 teams all the best as they wrap up their season at BISAC.
This week has been a mixed week between try outs for season two and the finishing of practices for season one Under 17 teams. We have to begin our tryouts for season two so early as we have exchanges on the horizon on 22 November, with ISB hosting the Tennis Exchange, SAS hosting Swimming and Touch, ISM hosting Basketball and JIS hosting the Rugby Exchange, it is a tight timeline to get teams ready for these exchanges! If you have a child that makes a varsity team, they will be receiving an exchange invitation early next week, which needs to be turned in by Friday next week.
We had fantastic numbers out this week for try outs with roughly 270 students coming out, which is over a third of the HS! It is terrific to see so many students participating in sports and we are looking at running an extra girls Touch team due to the numbers at try outs.
We will be celebrating season one next week at the season one sports banquet, which is hosted in the Rajendra Gymnasium next Thursday afternoon from 5.30pm. As a reminder all athletes have their tickets covered by the Booster club and parents can purchase tickets from the Athletics Office for 400 baht until Monday. After Monday the ticket price increases to 500 baht.
Finally, we achieved some excellent results in our recent IASAS tournament. At ISKL our girls soccer teams finished fourth and our boys lost in overtime in the finals in an incredibly close game. At ISM our girls volleyball finished fourth and the boys picked up the bronze medal. In Cross Country, our girls ran their way to bronze and the boys dominated the field to win the first ISB Gold medal for Boys Cross Country in eleven years. Well done to all the athletes so far this season for an outstanding effort!
Once again, all the best to our U17 teams for this weekend’s BISAC tournaments, Go Panthers!
