Grade 12: This past week, the High School Counselors held a workshop for seniors who will be applying to universities via the CommonApp (Common Application).
During University Lab on Monday, there will be a workshop for students focusing on how to write a university application essay.
Seniors continue to attend college visits.
Grade 11: Juniors will be attending Junior Seminar this Wednesday, Sept. 10 and Thursday, Sept. 11. The topic of the seminar will be on college match. Students will complete questionnaires that will provide them with further insight into themselves that will in turn assist them with a college/university that might be a good match.
Grade 10: By now, all the 10th graders should be in classes that fit their abilities and motivation. The start of the year has gone smoothly for our 10th graders. If your 10th grade son or daughter is having any difficulties, have him/her visit his/her counselor as soon as possible. We’re here to help.
The first sophomore seminar will be October 8th and 9th. We will explore individual student strengths through a pair of questionnaires that help students identify their personal strengths. We’re looking forward to getting to know our sophomores better at that time!
Grade 9: This past week our Freshman had their first taste of our Student Counsel Elections and our Club Fair. There was a very good vibe from our class of 2018 as they took the initiative to sign up for HS clubs of interest. Mr. Bradley and Mr. Roback also gave valuable presentations on being a good HS citizen and achieving HS Success. Grade 9 students also completed a Learning Style Inventory that will be part of their own Personal Learning Plan that they will be creating in Freshman Seminar.
