School has started and tryouts and tryouts have already begun. Remember MS athletes can now tryout for U17, U15, U13, and U11 sports. However, you should only attend U17 tryouts if you are a high level athlete in that sport already. Please click here to see the day(s), time, and location to report to for each of the tryouts.
How do I know if I am young enough to play?
It all depends on how old you were just a week ago on August 1. U15 means that you are UNDER 15 years old on August 1st. For example:
- If on August 1st you were 10 years old, you can play U11 sports all year (you could also play U13 if your level is high enough).
- If on August 1st you were 13 or 14, you are too old to play U11 and U13, but you can play U15 and U17.
- This means many 6th grade students are young enough for U11. It also means many 9th grade students are young enough to play U15.
- If a 7th or 8th grade athlete is an excellent player they could even make a U17 team.
Can I play on 2 teams?
You may tryout for 2 teams, but inform both coaches and the athletics office that you are doing so. However, in the end you can only be on 1 team; not 2 teams (Cross Country and Track and Field are not included). There may be a few rare cases whereby an exception can be made. However, this has to go through the Athletics office first to be approved case by case.
