Counselor Newsletter

Ryan Haynes
 ryanh@isb.ac.th

Grades 9 and 10: Study for exams and touch base with teachers regarding final assignments/assessments.

Grade 11: The last Junior University Lab took place this past Monday, May 12 during Flex in Rm. 203. We encourage Juniors to continue researching universities, to visit universities this summer, if possible, and prepare a short list of universities for university applications.

Grade 12: The HS Counseling Office hopes Seniors have done well in their exams. Remember, Transition Day is Monday, May 26.

There are still a few Internship opportunities available through the Summer School program.  Have your child see Mr. Callahan to find out more and sign up for an enlightening summer experience.

There are still many Seniors who have not reported their admissions results to their counselors. This is important data; please ask your child to inform their counselor of their admissions results.

College visits

On Tuesday, May 20, University of Utah, Asia campus (Korea) will be visiting ISB in Rm. 203 at 10:20 am.

Thank you,

The High School Counseling Office

Student Leadership Retreat September 17th & 18th
Kerri Fitzgerald
kerrif@isb.ac.th
Every year ISB hires an international company JUMP to run a student leadership retreat. Emerging student leaders and students who wish to develop their leadership skills are chosen to attend and ISB pays students’ JUMP fees. It is a great honor to be selected and to undergo such inspiring and challenging personal training. ISB is regarded by JUMP as having a strong Student Council and a strong system for developing students as leaders.

Sept 17th and 18th  there will be a two day retreat running 2:30 – 8 pm Wednesday and 8 – 3 pm Thursday (this is a teacher PD day so students will not be missing classes).  Friday is a holiday and it is a NO GO weekend for ISB so there is plenty of time to rest and recuperate afterwards!

All Student Council members are REQUIRED to attend as are Varsity Council and there are limited spaces available for other students.

All students have been informed and are asked to register their intent to apply for the leadership training now. The full application process gets underway in August. Mrs Tananone and Ms Derow (the incoming Activities Director) will be back in touch in the new school year.

Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?
Michelle Mueller Ihrig
cafeteria@isb.ac.th

…That we make it a top priority to serve chicken at ISB which is FREE of both Antibiotics and Growth Hormones!  Why is this so important for you and your family?  Because long term exposure to antibiotics and hormones, whether taken directly or through another source, actually weaken our immune systems by reducing our bodies’ natural ability to fight infection and bacteria, thus leaving us much more prone to illness.  Furthermore, sources which impact our own hormone balance, in this case with growth hormones in food, can have all sorts of negative side effects for our kids which appear in different ways.  Rest assured knowing your children can enjoy all the healthy chicken items on our menus at school. This is great news considering these dishes are, hands down, some of the school wide favorites!  Enjoy.
