Principal Message

philib@isb.ac.th
Dear Parents
Our last week in school before the break has been busy and included a wonderful student celebration of Songkran sponsored by the Thai Club. Students performed a water pouring ceremony offering blessings and good health to faculty and the community as a whole. The water pouring is symbolic of washing away the old, fresh starts and the New Year – something we all acknowledge as very meaningful and benefit from. There were also cultural presentations from other students groups – a multicultural assembly indeed. I wish you all a peaceful Songkran and hope you have some quiet family time and that students return refreshed and rested.
School opens again on Monday April 21st.
Sincerely
Philip Bradley
HS Principal

Usa Somboon

Dear Parents of Thai High School Students,
We want to let you know that last week International Schools Association of Thailand met officers from the Ror Dor Headquarters to adjust the military training program to correspond to our school year. This year Thai universities and some Thai high schools that are affiliated to universities, namely the Satit Demonstration Schools, are changing their school year to align with international schools in order to prepare for the upcoming ASEAN Community. The new option aims to reduce training to 10 weeks by starting in September and ending in November. Additionally, instead of comprising a half-day training, it will be a full day. The emphasis will be on discipline and endurance training. See detail below:
Requirement |
New Option for International Schools |
Registration – physical & fitness test | August 15-20, 2014 (or late June and 17 August) |
Year level | Completed Grade 9/Year 10 (regardless of age) |
Orientation | August 23, 2014 |
Training sessions begins | August 30 – November 1, 2014 |
Final physical exam for Years 1 – 3 | November 22, 2014 |
Final written test for Year 3 | November 30, 2014 |
Time | 7:45 am – 5:00 pm (full day – 8 hours) |
Venue | Ror Dar Headquarters at Vipawadi Road |
Students are allowed to be absent 2 days (equivalent to 4 times of previous rules). Students missing the training must do make up. The make up days can be done in two options: Sunday of the 6th week or Saturday of 11th or 12th week.
The Khao Chon Kai camp will take place from January 5 to March 5, with specific dates to be determined by individual schools. There are some expectations and cooperation proposed from the Ror Dor Headquarters that schools need to fulfill and we are looking at their proposals.
Note: another option period for registration is 24 May-22 June 2014. Any school intends to register during this period must submit an advance written request.
Questions regarding changes of the Ror Dor training, please contact Khun Pongsak Srisomsap (Khun Nam ) at nam@isb.ac.th, cell phone: 081-713-1174
Kind regards,
Usa Somboon
