Early Dismissal on Tuesday, March 18
A reminder our next scheduled Early Dismissal day is Tuesday, March 18th – all students will be dismissed at 1:00pm. School buses will leave at 1:15pm.
MS Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences – Information on Format and Appointments
Reminder, there will be no classes next Thursday and Friday, March 20-21 as MS Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences will be taking place both days 7:00am – 3:00pm. If you haven’t already, please click on this link to access information about the format of conferences and on when and how you can schedule your appointments. If you have already scheduled your appointment(s) and now need to change it, you can do so within the online scheduler.
Upcoming MS FCD Parent Meeting
Dear MS Parents,
As part of our Wellness Program, visiting consultants from the Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) organization will meet with students in grades 7 and 87th and 8 through an assembly on Monday, March 24th and one of their Humanities classes either on Monday or Tuesday, March 24-25. The sessions will focus on positive discussions on the health risks of alcohol and substance use to the developing teenage brain, possible long term addiction problems tied to early use, social norms and the misconceptions about teenage behavior, and strategies for maintaining healthy choices.
There is a MS Parent Meeting on Monday, March 24 at 6:30 – 8:00pm in MPB1 that all MS parents are invited to attend. The FCD consultants will present some information about the FCD program and majority of the meeting will be an open forum discussion format where parents have an opportunity to ask questions, and discuss/share concerns about teenagers and drugs and alcohol.
Grade 8 Registration for HS Courses
The HS Administration appreciated the opportunity to meet with all the Grade 8 students and many of the parents on Tuesday 11th March to talk a little about the upcoming HS experience and to talk through the HS Course Registration process. A reminder that ALL Grade 8 students, irrespective of whether they are staying or leaving ISB, need to register for HS courses between Wednesday 19th March and Monday 24th March.
Leaving ISB at the end of the school year?
The MS Counselors will be running lunch time sessions for students who are leaving at the end of the school year. These sessions will start in the beginning of April. During these sessions, we will be supporting students as they build their RAFT. RAFT stands for Reconciliation, Affirmation, Farewells, and Thinking destination. The term comes from David Pollock and Ruth Van Reken, authors of the book Third Culture Kids. SEA Festival Streaming Live From Guangzhou!
We are off to a great start in Guangzhou, China at the 2nd Annual SEA Middle School Honor Orchestra and Choir Festival!
There is a live stream available that will be streaming our performances both this afternoon and tomorrow evening at 5:00pm Guangzhou time (more details on the website below). We hope you can tune in and see some of what our students are experiencing this weekend!
