Tournament of Minds
Check out the Video
Congratulations to all the Middle School students who have worked so hard over the last few weeks and competed in the Bangkok Tournament of Minds on Sunday 2nd March. The Math Engineering team – Ahmed Ibrahim, Faisel Mahmud, Som-O Paknara, Sarah Gerber and William Olutimehin – gave an extremely entertaining performance, and the Language Literature team – Sophie Drummond, Janita Luanpolcharoenchai, Elly Namatinia, Mackenzie Smith, Elyas Ghaussy and Guy Thampakkul – actually won their division, qualifying for the Australasian Finals. Also, thank you so much to Daiki Shinomiya, Samuel Burrow, Mia Marsh and Helena Saunders, who gave up their day to come and photograph all the action and worked incredibly hard to put together an amazing slideshow of images for the closing ceremony. It was great to see so much talent on display from the middle school.
Repeat: Cafeteria News… Did You Know…?
…That the most awaited Smoothie Month of the Year has arrived!! Welcome back to Yellow Mango Madness!! There are actually some blessings that come along as the scorching hot season commences. One of the best is the naturally ripe, sweet fruit we can savor at this time. This would include the ‘King of Fruits’, the yellow mango. We’re whipping up fresh Mango smoothies such as our Mango Madness, Mango Strawberry Kiss and Mango Blueberry Bang (the last two made with yoghurt), and are also serving Mango with Sticky Rice, starting in March at the Grind. The health benefits of Mango are so numerous, this blurb is not able to do them fair justice. However, we will just have to mention a few: Mangoes are rich in antioxidants and alkalizing properties which help combat cancer causing agents and inflammation, contain high levels of fiber and vitamin C which lower cholesterol and boost the immune system, and are high in vitamin A which improves vision. For further good news on Mango, we invite you to take your own journey into the wonders of this fruit. Welcome Mango Mania! Enjoy!
Repeat: NBBL Scorekeeping/Timekeeping opportunity for students in Grades 7-12
By Kevin Sypolt, ksypolt@gmail.com
As we have in past years, NBBL (North Bangkok Basketball League) will hire Grade 7-12 students to be scorekeepers and timekeepers for NBBL games. The games will take place on mostly on Saturdays at the ISB gyms. This is a great opportunity for Grade 7-12 students to earn their own money and learn the responsibility of a work situation. The students will earn between THB 200 and 300 per game. In order for the students to be eligible to work at these games, all students (including those who have been scorekeepers/timekeepers in the past) must register at:
There is a MANDATORY training session for any student who did not work as a scorekeeper/timekeeper last season. This training will take place either on Sunday, March 9th at 2:00PM or on Tuesday, March 11th at 7:00PM. Both sessions will take place in the MPB 3 room. Students are only required to attend one of the sessions.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. As always, please consult our NBBL website at https://www.nbbl.asia/ for information. This is where we will post calendar information, schedules, team listings, etc.
