IASAS Cultural Convention 2014: March 6- 8th –  hosted in three different venues

by Kerri Fitzgerald
kerrif@isb.ac.th

On March 5th three squads of our top artists (totaling over 70 students) will depart for the three different venues: Forensics and Debate will be hosted in Taipei at TAS, Art, Dance, and Drama will travel to Jakarta and be hosted by JIS, and lastly (and this one is tinged with regret as we were supposed to host), Music will travel to Kuala Lumpur to be hosted by ISKL.

Students have been through a rigorous selection process and have been rehearsing and preparing for months. Although only five Visual Arts students travel, another 25 artworks are selected to form part of the huge IASAS CC Art exhibition. All the delegates will be honoured in a special ‘Black and Gold’ Assembly at 1:10 pm on March 3 and, on their return, there will be an  Awards Banquet generously sponsored by the Booster Club (Wednesday March 12th).

We wish our CC delegates all the very best for their CC experience which is always guaranteed to be intense, illuminating and exhausting! The ISB community is invited to attend the CC Dance and Drama Showcases on Monday, March 3rd starting at 3:00 pm in the Cultural Centre Theatre.

by Napisa Pant
napisapant.yoga@gmail.com

Since 2010, Sharka Furda, our friend and yoga teacher to many of ISB’s yoga practitioners, has introduced the heartfelt campaign ‘YogaStopsTraffick’ to our ISB families. With this event, ISB has been helping to create awareness of, and raise funds for, the Anti-Human Traffick of women and children organization located in Odanadi, India. This is going to be the 5th year of this great event, in which ISB families will hold hands to extend our love beyond our own community.

This one day yoga global event will take place on Saturday, March 15th from 7:30-9:00 am in MPB1. Those with or without yoga experience will enjoy. A donation of 500 baht for adults and 200 baht for kids is suggested. T- Shirts are available for sale. Please contact Napisa C. Pant for more information at napisapant.yoga@gmail.com   www.yogastoptrafficx.org

The coaches for the Academy will be volunteers from the Bangkok Netball League alongside myself and an Aussie coach Pauline who has previous experience in setting up a very succesful Junior Academy in Dubai.

Please see the attached flyer and let me know as soon as possible your interest in attending and developing in the Academy.

I would love to see all of the players who have attended ISB every Tue evening and trained hard to attend and enjoy the Academy.

I look forward to speaking to you all soon, please email me back ASAP with your interest and we can register you.
