Come See the Wonderful World of Dr. Dolittle!!

This year the ISB Elementary School will be presenting the crowd pleasing musical, Dr. Dolittle Jr.  Come see the Giant Pink Sea Snail, A Lunar Moth, and Animals Galore.   Tickets will be on sale in front of the main ISB office each school day from 7-8 am and again in the afternoon from 1:30-2:30 through Friday February 21st, OR until sold out.  The show dates are Thursday February 20th and Friday February 21st at 6:30 pm in the Chevron Theater.  Prices are 200 baht for adults and 100 baht for students.  Come out and support our youngest ISB thespians and enjoy a laughter and music filled evening.

Dr. Dolittle Raffle to help the Thai Elephant

To honor the theme of the ES Musical, Dr. Dolittle Jr., the ES Music team and the talented cast would like to invite you to Save The Animals, just like Dr. Dolittle.  The cast of Dr. Dolittle will be selling raffle tickets this week and next with all proceeds going to the great organization Bring The Elephant Home, a Thai organization dedicated to the conservation and humane treatment of the Thai Elephant.  Tickets are 100 baht each and you can win a two (2) night stay at the Anantara Golden Triangle Resort in Chiang Rai OR two (2) nights at the Anantara Lawana Koh Samui in a pool villa OR brunch for two (2) at Trader Vic’s in Bangkok or many other great prizes.  One major prize will be announced at each of the Dr. Dolittle performances on the 20th and 21st.  You do not need to be present to win, but you do have to buy a ticket!!!

Upcoming Student-Led Conferences – March 20 and 21

Our annual Student-Led conferences are coming up on March 20 and 21.   More information will come to you when we are closer to this date, but as a head’s up for new parents, there is no school on these dates for elementary students.  They will, however, be involved in their conference time on one of the two dates.

Maka Bucha Day School Holiday

Friday Feb. 14, 2014 is Maka Bucha Day.  No school.  Classes resume on Monday Feb. 17.  It will be an ‘A’ day.

ES P.E. Swimming

Our swimming unit in PE starts next week for some classes.  Our first session of swimming begins this coming Monday, Feb. 17.  If your child’s class is part of this session you will have received a detailed letter explaining our swim program in your child’s Friday folder.

The following classes will be in the first session in the pool: (February 17 – March 25)

Grade 5 – Armitage, Perkins
Grade 4 – Crimi, Hamlin
Grade 3 – Day, Haynes
Grade 2 – Ducharme, Meyer, Giles
Grade 1 – Hardman

Why Thai workshop- New Date Feb. 20, 2014

All new Thai parents are warmly invited to join our workshop entitled “Why Thai”. We believe that a strong native language that is used for a variety of purposes is an asset and allows our children to become successful learners. This is a repeat of last year’s workshop and is dedicated to the importance of Thai as a native language in the lives of our children.  The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 20, in ES Multipurpose  Room (MPR) from 7:30 to 9:00. We hope to see you there!

ES After School Activities (ASA) Update

This Semester’s After School Activity program will begin on Monday, February 24th.

Thursday February 13th – Please Check your child’s Friday folder for ASA confirmation.

Monday, February 24th – ES ASA begin!  ES ASA locations and availability will be posted daily outside the ES office.

There are still limited spaces available in some of our ASA. You can still register but don’t delay! Remember, once the ASA schedule begins there are NO REFUNDS however, you may change your ASA choice once it is before your third session.

I am in the office from Tuesday – Friday 7:30am – 9:30am if you have any questions or concerns.

Accepting Applications for 2014-2015 school year

We are now accepting applications for the 2014-15 school year.   If you have a child who is not currently attending ISB, please contact the admissions office at register@isb.ac.th and we will help you get the application process started.   We recommend that you apply early to avoid disappointment.

Please note, those applying for Pre-Kindergarten must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2014. Those applying to Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before the same date.

International Food Fair (IFF) – 1st March, 4-7pm at ISB

Only 2 ½ weeks to go and we have the biggest Fair of the year at ISB… There will be 20 different food booths from around the world, games for every age, entertainment and many prizes.  Don’t forget to bring in your drawing for the drawing competition (28 Feb last day).  The box is in the ES office.

Wanted: ES SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Calling all ES students.  Wouldn’t you love to give your Principal a half day off and help do her job? Join the ES staff for half a day and help make the ES even better!  Spend time with Mrs Armitage and Mrs Drummond helping to make some important decisions, visiting classrooms and talking to students and teachers.

U11 Boys and Girls T-Ball

U11 Boys and Girls T-Ball begins on Monday Feb 24th at 2:15pm-3:15pm
on the turf field. There are no tryouts and any 4th or 5th grader may
join the teams (as long as they were no more than 11 years old on August
1st, 2013.) Training will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:15-3:15pm.  The season ends Saturday April 26th, 2014 with a BISAC Tournament. Bring P.E. clothes, shoes, and a water bottle. See you there!

(Repeat) After School Supervision – Reminder

Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand ISB policy around supervision after school.  For safety’s sake, ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult. Thank you for your cooperation.
