by  Kerri Fitzgerald
kerrif@isb.ac.th

IASAS CULTURAL CONVENTION(CC) is coming up (March 6- 8 th) and involves over 70 HS students plus staff. This year CC Music will be held at ISKL, Art, Dance and Drama are traveling to Jakarta (JIS), Forensics and Debate will be hosted in Taipei at TAS.

At ISB we will hold CC showcases so that you can all catch a glimpse of our amazing artists and orators before they travel away on March 5th.  It’s like our very own mini Arts Festival!

From February 24 – March 3 we are hoping that the CC Art  exhibition of the 25 pieces chosen to be taken to Jakarta will go on display in the Main Library. This will depend on the length of time the framing process takes.

On both February 26th and 27th starting at 2:30 pm  in the HS Choir Room, CC music delegates will perform some of their challenging and beautiful pieces. Come along and be inspired.

February 26th is also the showcase for Forensics and Debates delegates – in the pit at the Main library from 2:30 pm.

Finally on March 3rd, the CC Dance and Drama  Showcases will be held in the CCT (2 shows – 3:00pm and 5:30pm). The Drama piece will be performed second at the 5:30 performance

Come and be amazed at the wealth of talent at ISB.

IASAS CC Music 2014 shifted from BKK to KL – March 6-8

by Kerri Fitzgerald
kerrif@isb.ac.th

The IASAS Heads of Schools have conferred and have made the decision to move CC Music 2014 at ISB  to ISKL. This is a sad situation for us as ISB is so well set up to host MUSIC and we have been planning this Convention for nearly five months.

Thanks for all your offers to house the incoming CC delegates; it’s a wonderful thing to open your doors to travelers and this a major reason that  IASAS works so well.

ISB is grateful to ISKL for stepping up and hope that this will simply be a switch.

ISB will be set to  host  MUSIC in March 2015!

Every CC becomes a triumph and a joy; we wish ISKL all the best in hosting MUSIC.

Volunteers needed for 2014 North Bangkok Basketball League (NBBL) season

by Kevin Sypolt
kevinjan@optonline.net

ksypolt@gmail.com

We are in need of volunteers for the upcoming 2014 NBBL season. Online player registration has been open since early January with 200+ players already registered. We now need the following volunteers to be able to organize and run the NBBL season and provide the best experience for the players participating in the league.

• Team Coaches

• We need coaches for each individual team. Please see the Division info further below for a listing of Divisions vs. grades.

• Please volunteer as a head or assistant coach for a division. Or alternatively, volunteer with another person to co-coach a team.

• Division Coordinators

• We need a person in each division to take the lead coordinating that division. This could be one of the coaches in that division, or a non-coaching parent in that division.

• General Coordinators

• We need volunteers to help with the general administrative tasks involved in running the league: games scheduling, referees, timekeepers & scorekeepers, treasurer, equipment & facilities, etc.

• This could be any parent; no level of basketball experience is needed to help out.

• Sponsors

• The NBBL is seeking sponsorship to subsidize this year’s league. Specifically, if the NBBL is to provide extra training by the Top Flight coaches this season similar to last season, we need additional funding since the revenue from registration fees alone is not enough to cover those costs. If any organizations or individuals are willing to provide sponsorship funds, or have any recommendations, please contact info@nbbl.asia. We are seeking to put sponsor logos onto the player’s jerseys, amongst other possibilities.

Please consider volunteering, especially if you have children participating and regardless of your familiarity with basketball. If you have any interest, please email info@nbbl.asia to discuss.

Season schedule overview … Please see www.nbbl.asia/season-overview for more info.

• The season will begin on Saturday, March 8 with player assessments and team formation for each division.

• 8 weeks of regular games will begin on the weekend of Fri.-Sat., March 14-15.

• Division tournament games will conclude the season on the weekend of Fri.-Sat., May 23-24.

Thanks,

Kevin Sypolt
