Challenge and Enrichment at ISB
In this session, Selena Gallagher, our Challenge and Enrichment
Specialist, will be elaborating on a recent Touchstone article about
Talent Development at ISB and answering parent questions. This is an
opportunity to find out more about:

What we believe about challenge and talent development
-
How we plan to ensure all students are challenged
-
How parents can support their child’s talent development
When: 6th February 7.30am – 9.00am
Where: MPB 1 (Top of the zigzag)
ES ‘Out of Uniform’ Day—February 6 and 7
These two days are ‘Out of uniform’ days in the Elementary School. On PE days, students need to wear their PE uniforms. On their non PE day, students may choose to not wear their ISB uniform.
Appropriate dress guidelines for our ‘Out of Uniform’ days are:

Pants/slacks/shorts—good condition
-
Shirts/blouses—sleeves & midriff required, appropriate logos only
-
Skirts/dresses/jumpers—sleeves required, modest length
-
Shoes—sneakers, street shoes or leather sandals with back strap
-
Hats must be worn all the time when playing outside during recess or during PE classes
International School Assessment (ISA) for Grades 3, 5, 7 and 10
Please note that students in grades 3, 5, 7 and 10 will sit the annual ISA tests on February 11th and 12th. The International School Assessment is designed to offer comparable assessment data for students in international schools.
The ISA assesses students in the three domains of Mathematical Literacy, Reading and Writing using paper and pencil tests designed for Grades 3, 5, 7 and 10.
ES Swimming
Our swimming unit in PE is just around the corner. We have a total of three sessions of swimming times for Elementary School. Our first session of swimming will begin on Monday, February 17. If your child’s class is part of this session you will receive a detailed letter explaining our swim program in your child’s Friday folder that will go home on February 7. So please be on the lookout for this!
The following classes will be in the first session in the pool: (February 17 – March 25)
Grade 5 – Armitage, Perkins
Grade 4 – Crimi, Hamlin
Grade 3 – Day, Haynes
Grade 2 – Ducharme, Meyer, Giles
Grade 1 – Hardman

Why Thai workshop- New Date Feb. 20, 2014
All new Thai parents are warmly invited to join our workshop entitled “Why Thai”. We believe that a strong native language that is used for a variety of purposes is an asset and allows our children to become successful learners. This is a repeat of last year’s workshop and is dedicated to the importance of Thai as a native language in the lives of our children. The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 20, in ES Multipurpose Room (MPR) from 7:30 to 9:00. We hope to see you there!

We are now accepting applications for the 2014-15 school year. If you have a child who is not currently attending ISB, please contact the admissions office at register@isb.ac.th and we will help you get the application process started. We recommend that you apply early to avoid disappointment.
Please note, those applying for Pre-Kindergarten must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2014. Those applying to Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before the same date.

ES After School Activities Update
This Semester’s After School Activity program will begin on Monday, February 24th.
The following are some important dates for you to note in your calendar:

Friday January 31st – Activity Listing & important registration information to be found in your child’s Friday folder. Registration will be open online from 4pm. Please Go to https://inside.isb.ac.th/parentportal/esasa and click “Activities booklet” link. Registration will be online and you will get a conformation to your email which must be printed and included with your payment.

Monday February 3rd, Tuesday February 4th and Wednesday February 5th – Please drop your printed registration form along with exact payment in the red drop box outside the ES office.

Thursday February 13th– Confirmation of ES ASA are sent home via the Friday Folder·

Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand ISB policy around supervision after school. For safety’s sake, ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult. Thank you for your cooperation.
