Bangkok Shutdown: ISB Update Sunday 12th January, 2014

Dear ISB Community,

We are very happy to report that ISB now plans to open on Monday 13th January for students in grades 1-12 on a reduced schedule for those students that can safely get to and from school.

We have been able to accommodate a number of teachers that live downtown locally and as a result also open classes in grades 1, 2 and 3 for Monday.

Some ISB teachers, however, and a number of classified staff members, will still not be able to get to school on Monday. We are very sorry that we cannot open classes in grades Pre-K and KG at this time.

The school day will run from 7:20am to 12:30pm. Information about activities and athletics is provided below.

Please note that Montri will not be providing any transportation services – all buses and vans are cancelled for Monday 13th January.

We are anticipating severe traffic conditions and parents are advised not to attempt to get their children to school if there is potential for traffic gridlock en route.

To help with the continuity of learning, teachers will be in contact electronically by Monday afternoon with those students unable to get to school. Please be patient as teachers may not be able to set up online learning until after school has ended for the day.

I would like to thank the 40 plus families that have offered accommodation to downtown students.

We will remain in contact with our security advisors, monitor events on Monday, and be in touch again on Monday evening latest with respect to Tuesday 14th January.
