December Examinations – All students should have received their exam schedules.  If you have not seen it, please ask your son or daughter.

  • December 2013 exams run from Wednesday 11th December to Wednesday 18th December. The full exam schedule can be found on the Parent Portal through this link.
  • There are 3 exam sessions each day which have 7:20, 10:10 and 1:00 start times, except for students with accommodations, who have separate schedules.  Students should arrive at their exam venues 10 minute early.  Students will not be permitted to leave an exam early.
  • Student are expected to bring pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, ISB ID card, calculator (if required) and a clear water bottle to each exam.
  • Students who do not have an exam on a day may stay at home to study or use our Library for private study.
  • Students can leave school early after an exam by completing an exam early departure form which will be posted on the Parent and Student Portals or hard copies available from the HS Office.  Students will need to have a parent-signed, completed form for each instance they wish to leave campus.
  • Students are expected to take each exam as scheduled.  Students who are sick for an exam must contact the HS office immediately.  Medical certificates MUST be provided.
  • Thursday 19th December and Friday 20th December are exam feedback days where normal attendance is expected.  Teachers will look at group and individual feedback, review markschemes and success criteria, look at exemplary answers and develop future goals.  School will still finish at 11:30am on the Friday following the HS end of year assembly.

PowerSchool will be closed to student and parent access from 7am on Wednesday 11th December until after the exam period.

Counseling News
Kevin Callahan
kevinc@isb.ac.th
We hope that you are staying healthy during the hectic time leading up to exams. Don’t forget to take a break to do a little exercise, eat healthy, and make sure that you get enough sleep!

There is a departing student lunch for those leaving at the end of the semester on Monday, December 9th, at 10:20 in the MPB – 1.  Leaving students, come and let us treat you to lunch, and you can bring a friend!  Invitations go out Friday; if you haven’t informed Khun Namwan, the registrar, that you are leaving, please do so immediately, pick up your withdrawal forms, and have lunch with us!

Congratulations to Aiko Fukuda, who is our only mid-year graduate this year! A celebration of her graduation is taking place today, Friday, in the MPB.  We hope you got a chance to drop by and wish her the best!

Seniors – If you have applications due any time before February 1st, you must make an appointment to send them with your counselor before the December/January break.  Counselors are busy with a variety of tasks when they return in January so they won’t be available to send applications until after February 1st.  Make an appointment now!

Juniors – you should have finished and turned in your University Springboard List by today, Friday, and returned it to the counseling office.  Your long-term assignment is to finish the packet of materials that you received at the junior seminar last week.  They are due February 3rd.  Make sure that you give your parents the invitation to Junior Parents Night (January 30th) and give them their homework – the “Parents Perspective”.

Sophomores – study hard for exams and start thinking about the courses/subjects that you really like and are really good at.  It will help you later in deciding what courses you’ll have in 11th and 12th grade.

Freshmen – now that the Foundation students have had a chance to go over study tips for the semester exams, all the Freshmen should be ready to go for their very first semester finals!

Have a great weekend.

HS Visual Arts Show Dec 6th – 16th Chevron foyer
Kerri  Fitzgerald
kerrif@isb.ac.th
This show is just beautiful. From the moment you enter the Chevron foyer you will be transported. Delicate rings crafted by Mr Hochberg’s students gleam in the corner and you can hear the sound of water trickling from the exquisite fountains which are balanced on pedestals.

Please NO BAGS INSIDE – too easy to turn and knock something!

There are paintings and drawings based on natural forms, mixed media images using ideas from journeying through a city, and autobiographical works using and ceramic & print making techniques. WOW!

The beauty of the natural world is reflected in the stunning photography on display. Students explore cultural paradigms and 3 dimensional images using space and time. The use of light and texture is skilfully applied.

There is clearly skilful teaching going on here and the results are fantastic. Congratulations to all the students involved.

Big thanks to Ms Lambie Jones, Mr Tahan and Mr Hochberg, plus Khun Lert, Khun Toto, & Khun Banjong who do so much to assist in every way. A great team!
