Leaving ISB at the End of the First Semester?
Parents of students who are not returning to ISB after semester 1 need to notify the ES Office, K. ISB is a Nut-free Campus
As stated on p. 32 of the Parent Student Handbook, ISB is a nut-free campus. We have many students at our school with serious nut allergies. In order to keep them safe, we do not allow any kind of nuts on our campus at any time. This includes the snacks and lunches that you might send to school with your child. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our children safe.
After School Supervision – Reminder
Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand ISB policy around supervision after school. For safety’s sake, ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult. Thank you for your cooperation.
Using the Playground
Families are welcome to use the ISB playgrounds after school hours, with supervision. However, during the school day from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, the playgrounds are to be used only by students for scheduled recess. This includes the PK/Kinder playground. After 1:00 PK dismissal, the playground should only be used by Kindergarteners for their scheduled recess. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?
Michelle Ihrig
cafeteria@isb.ac.th
Just like other areas of learning, acquiring the knowledge & skill of choosing a balanced meal at our cafeteria is a learning process. Beyond Pre-K, ISB students practice this learning each day when they approach the serving windows to get their lunch. For our KG students, the first trimester presents a sometimes overwhelming array of new choices: food type, colour, flavors etc. In the early weeks, students tend to select foods with which they are most familiar – rice & potatoes are common ‘safe’ choices at this time. By October, just a few months later, our KG students are choosing a much more balanced meal, the majority taking helpings at the salad bar after they have finished their hot meal. As students progress through school, their selections tend to broaden, reflecting a growing understanding and like for a balanced meal. After reviewing our cafeteria serving structures, we are confident that the systems we have in place serve the learning & dietary needs of our students well. However, following feedback from parents & teachers, we have determined some simple changes for the first few months of the school year that will allow our KG students to ease into the change from ‘family style’ serving in Pre-K to the more formal serving structures we have for KG-Gr 5.
Should you have any further inquiries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact myself. Michelle Ihrig – cafeteria@isb.ac.th
