Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?
… that each November brings us the celebration of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time where we are reminded to be in gratitude for our plenty and our bounty. It is a time of Community, Collaboration, Friendship, Family, Gratitude, Blessings and Remembrance. Ideally it should be a day like any other in terms of gratefulness, however, it is truly special for us to dedicate one day for extra reflection. As has become custom at the HS/MS Cafeteria, Epicure will be serving up a traditional Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday Nov 28 starting at 10:00am. The delightful menu will include: Carved Roast Turkey, Honey Glazed Ham, Homemade Herb Stuffing, Giblets Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli & Carrot Saute and Pumpkin Pie, all for only 160 B. Should your child wish to partake in this celebration on Thursday, please ensure that their campus cards are topped up so as not to disappoint. Parents are also welcome to partake in the festivities! Enjoy.
Repeat Announcement: Leaving ISB End of This Semester?

Repeat Announcement: First MS Parent Walkabout of 2013-2014 Coming November 26th!
Dear MS Parents, you are invited to come see learning in the MS in action! Our first MS Walkabout of the school year will be on Tuesday, November 26th at 7:45 – 10:00am. We will begin in the MPB3 at 7:45am for the first 10 minutes for an introduction going over our expectations for parents visiting classrooms. Parents are then welcome to visit classrooms. At 9:15 we will reconvene in the MPB3 and have an opportunity for a follow-up discussion with the MS Administrators about the MS programs.
Repeat Announcement: Middle School Father/Son Book Club @ the Library
By Robert Kelly

On behalf of the ISB Main Library and the Friends of the Library group, I would like to invite any middle school grade boys and their fathers to our ISB Father/Son book club held in the main library. The book we will be reading was released in 2010 and is called Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi. It is a powerful book choice for this age level and equally as powerful for adults. It was nominated for a National Book Award for adolescent literature, and asks what will our world look like when we run out of non-renewable resources? The nature of trust, family, fate and luck form the thematic underpinnings of Ship Breaker’s heady adventures.
Here is the link to the book information on Amazon. It can be ordered in paperback or downloaded on the Kindle or iPad:https://www.amazon.com/Ship-Breaker-Paolo-Bacigalupi/dp/0316056197/ref=tmm_pap_title_0
At this point, the exact date of the evening event is not set, but we are thinking of mid-January after the school holidays. Once I know how many people will be attending, we can move forward with setting a date. The plan will be that fathers and sons read the book at home and then we will gather at school for a casual evening that will include stimulating conversation about the book, as well as refreshments.
If you are interested in joining us, please send me an email at rkelly2@gmail.com, and I can send you more detailed information.
Repeat Announcement: Next MS Counselor Connection with Parents on November 19th
We welcome MS parents to join the school counselors on Tuesday, November 19th from 9:00-10:30am in the MS Skybox, 3rd floor. Coffee and pastries will be provided. In our Wellness classes this month we are exploring the topics of bullying and building positive relationships. We will focus November’s Counselor Connection with parents on these same issues, discussing how to spot signs of bullying, what to do if your child is being bullied or bullying others, and how to promote positive relationships at home and in school.
Please RSVP by completing the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1GnMiQrqDWUmfPN1k3JPqQZiRTbSQhvNkTaNrkfH9jcQ/viewform. Because we will be facilitating a discussion, we can accommodate the first thirty parents who submit this form. This survey will close once the spots have been filled. We hope you can join us.
