ISB is a Nut-free Campus

Posted on November 1, 2013 by Tina

As stated on p. 32 of the Parent Student Handbook, ISB is a nut-free campus. We have many students at our school with serious nut allergies. In order to keep them safe, we do not allow any kind of nuts on our campus at any time. This includes the snacks and lunches that you might send to school with your child. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our children safe.

After School Supervision – Reminder

Posted on November 1, 2013 by Tina

Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand ISB policy around supervision after school.  For safety’s sake, ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult. Thank you for your cooperation.

Using the Playground

Posted on November 1, 2013 by Tina

Families are welcome to use the ISB playgrounds after school hours, with supervision. However, during the school day from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, the playgrounds are to be used only by students for scheduled recess. This includes the PK/Kinder playground. After 1:00 PK dismissal, the playground should only be used by Kindergarteners for their scheduled recess. Your cooperation is appreciated.

…That we strive to prepare and serve chicken that is Antibiotic and Hormone Free!  Why is this important for you?  Because long term exposure to antibiotics, whether taken directly or through another source, actually weaken our immune systems by taking over our bodies’ natural ability to fight infection and bacteria, thus leaving us much more prone to illness.  Furthermore, our poultry is 100% certified Halal.  ‘In Arabic, the word halal means permitted or lawful.  Halal foods are foods that are allowed under Islamic dietary guidelines.  Muslims are taught through the Qu’ran that all animals should be treated with respect and well cared for.’ A further belief is that Halal is one of the most humane methods of animal preparation.  Now here’s to Chicken!  Enjoy.
