Principal Forum
Philip Bradley
philipb@isb.ac.th
Do you have a general high school issue or concern that you wish the Principal or a member of his team would address? The High School Principal Forum is a dedicated group of HS parents who work closely with the Principal to seek clarification and/or action on important issues and concerns shared by the wider HS parent community. We are currently seeking input for our second forum of the year. Please address your issues to hsppforum@isb.ac.th. Forum members will organize and present the issues to Mr. Bradley and his team who, in turn, will meet in an open forum with the community on November 27 (MPB2, 9:00 am) to address the issues. All personal info received via email will remain private and will be reviewed by forum leaders only – NOT the Principal. Please provide your input not later than November 13 for entry in our second forum.
If you would like to listen to the podcast from the October Principal’s Forum it can be found at this link.

A phone call to the HS Office (Khun Gade – 02 963 5883) must be made to report student absences. Proper communication with teachers is also important but parents should remember to first call the HS Office.

Grade 12: Seniors, make appointments with counselors to submit your college/university applications. Do not wait to the last minute! The Common App website is new and some students are experiencing difficulty accessing the site, especially as it gets closer to application deadlines! Here is part of a statement from an e-mail Common App sent to counselors, students, and colleges/universities regarding the difficulties the Common App has been experiencing, “The last few days have comprised the most difficult period in The Common Application’s nearly 40 years of service to the education community. You have no doubt read news stories and social media conversations about the challenges facing applicants, recommenders, and member colleges.”

Massed Band Festival Concert
Kerri Fitzgerald
kerrif@isb.ac.th
In this era of images it is a welcoming thing to just listen and imagine ….and to let the sounds of 150 live, massed band instruments resonate.
This Saturday ( November 2nd) the popular Massed Band Festival Concert will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chevron Theatre. Over 150 students from 5 schools including Penang, Malaysia, will perform as one band under the direction of U.S. conductor, David Baldock. Local Bangkok International Schools return year after year, and say that this festival is the highlight of their school year playing in a band with full instrumentation.
There will be selected HS musicians showcasing their beloved instruments in the foyer from 1:15 (the doors to the Chevron will be opened at 1:30 pm). Bring friends & family and be early.
Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?
Michelle Ihrig

…That we use 100% premium Soybean Oil for all of our cooking. Why soybean oil? For several reasons: 1) It contains 0% Trans fats, the kinds of fat that are the worst for you. 2) It has 8% Omega 3 Fatty Acid, a number even higher to that which is in premium Canola oil. Omega 3 fatty acids are an essential part of our diet and very important for proper brain and muscle functioning. 3) It has a high smoke point, which means it can be heated to high temperatures without breaking down, and is therefore perfect for stir frying, etc. 4) It is made locally allowing us to benefit in two ways a) decreasing our cost and as compared to using an imported item, and b) reducing our carbon footprint on the environment. 5) Last, when compared in nutritional value to more well know imported oils such as Canola or Safflower oil, Soybean oil ranks right alongside them. Enjoy.
