Grade 9: On October 16, 9th grade students took part in well being activities. Some of the sessions that students had the opportunity to sign up for were: Yoga, Meditation, Personal Fitness, Art, Beditation (controlled breathing to induce a healthy sleeping state), Time Management, Lake Side Walk and Visualization, Dance, Drama, Swimming, Healthy Computer Use. The students then had some time to reflect upon the morning in small community groups. They shared their experiences in different sessions and spoke of ways that they look to be well.

Grade 10: Students took the ACT PLAN a practice test for the ACT on October 16. The ACT PLAN matches the ISB Grade 10 curriculum.

Grade 11: Grade 11 students who are non-native speakers of English took the Institutional TOEFL exam on October 15. The Institutional TOEFL is a practice test for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language, an English language proficiency exam). Then on October 16, all Grade 11 students took the PSAT a practice test for the SAT.

Grade 12:  On October 16, Grade 12 students took part in a day of balance. Students were engaged in activities such as: Cooking for College, relaxation activities/Stress Busters, Games, Music Mania, Drama and Balance, Healthy Living, and Self Defense. These activities were balanced with college/university preparation activities such as: Application Completion, Essay Writing and Editing, Researching colleges/universities in Japan, Korea, and other Asian countries, Researching colleges/universities in the UK and Europe, and Researching colleges/universities in Australia. Then, toward the end of the day, students met with their counselor to touch base regarding their own application process. Initial feedback from the students indicated that the day was fun, informative, and worthwhile.

Great to see so many Seniors attending University Lab! We had another great turn out this past week. University Lab continues this Monday and every Monday until December 2.

Seniors, if you are applying Early Action (EA) or Early Decision (ED) and have not made an appointment with your counselor to submit your EA/ED application you need to do so as soon as you return from the break. Counselors will have limited evening appointments available for application submission. Please see your counselor for further information.

Last week, the Counseling Office hosted a successful Linden College Fair with 39 colleges/universities in attendance and earlier in the week, we hosted a Midwest College Fair that spotlighted colleges/universities from the Midwest of the U.S.
