Dear Readers,
Do you fear intellectual stagnation? Are you seeking profoundly new experiences? Never fear, your librarian is here! In the most hotly anticipated event of the fall season, the Man Booker Prize 2013 shortlist was released this week. Considered by many to be the best shortlist in recent history and certainly the most diverse, I would like to invite whomever is interested to join me in reading all six books on the shortlist. On a date of our choosing, we would then come together for a lovely literary salon to discuss our impressions and our predictions (or outrage if we happen to meet after the winner is announced). Please reply if you would like to join me in this literary romp.
The books are as follows and can be found in the library:
NoViolet Bulawayo – We Need New Names
Eleanor Catton – The Luminaries
Jim Crace – Harvest
Jhumpa Lahiri – The Lowland
Ruth Ozeki – A Tale for the Time Being
Colm Toibin – The Testament of Mary
Hope you can join me!
