Community Activities Office – Busing Information

Dear Community Activity Parents,

There has been a little confusion over busing for CAO activities.

This is to clarify.

There is NO busing offered for Community Activities.

Any downtown Middle School or High School students can take the activity bus home IF their activity finishes in time to take the 3:30 or 5:00 activity bus.  If the activity finishes AFTER the bus leaves, it is the responsibility of the parents to organize transportation.  The 3:30 and 5:00 buses drop kids at the top of Soi, therefore, these buses are NOT appropriate for ES students.  Please note that on FRIDAYS there is no 5:00 o’clock bus, only a 3:30 activity bus.

When ES After School Activities (ESASA’s) begin on September 23rd there is an ES Activities bus that leaves at 3:30.  This bus/van takes kids to their doorstep, and is appropriate for ES students.  If your CAO activity finishes in time ES students may take this bus.  However, its important to note that many CAO groups do not finish in time to take this bus.  Again, if this is the case it is the parents responsibility to arrange transport for their child.

It’s important to note that if a CAO activity finishes at 3:30, there is NOT enough time for that child to gather up their things, and walk to the bus.  They will NOT be in time for the bus. Again, this is why we do not offer bus service for CAO groups.  If you make the choice to sign your child up for a CAO Activity you must understand that busing is not part of the service offered.

There is a big gap in time from when ESASA’s begin and from when CAO activities begin. During this gap in time (early Aug-end Sept) there is NO 3:30 bus for ES students.   This will also occur in January when CAO activities begin and ESASA’s are yet to start.  Again, it is parents responsibility to arrange transport.

Signing up for a CAO activity is the CHOICE of parents and children, if you are not willing to arrange your own transport, please do not sign up for CAO activities.

Regards,

Justin Wah
