Panther Tennis

by Panther Tennis Team
panthertennisisb@gmail.com

Panther Tennis Season 1 for the new school year started on August 19 and this week is a good time time for players to come out and play if they have not done so in awhile, and for new players to check out the various tennis training programs that are being offered.  Your child may go to the outdoor tennis courts at school between 4pm – 6pm from Monday to Friday this week for open assessments, whereby the coaches will assess each player’s level of play and recommend suitable training programs for him/her.  Online registrations are now open and registration fees include a Panther Tennis t-shirt and cap for all students. Evening adult sessions (every Wednesday) will also begin this week.

All players who are interested to try out for the Under-13 (U13) BISAC teams are highly encouraged to sign up for the 2-hour Intensive Competitive Program in the season that the tournament takes place.  The program will entitle each player to the following:

  • Two 2-hour training sessions each week designed for players interested in participating in tennis tournaments
  • Opportunity to try out for the ISB (U13) BISAC team which will play in BISAC tournaments on October 12/13 and November 2
  • Opportunity for participation in one local tournament
  • Professional coaching throughout to support tournament participation

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION RELATED TO BISAC U-13 (SEASON 1)

  • Tryouts for the U-13 BISAC Team will be held in the week beginning August 26, and the qualified team members for the boys & girls teams (10 players for each category) will be announced on August 29.  They will be split further into two sub-teams — 5 players in the BlackTeam and 5 in the Gold Team.
  • Those who make the team will be given additional team training/coaching (minimum of 3 hours a week) leading up to the BISAC tournament at no extra cost.
  • It is MANDATORY for each BISAC team member to commit to a minimum of 3 hours’ training per week with other team members at the school.
  • Each team member will be entitled to BISAC ISB Panther team paraphernalia.
  • We will review this structure and anticipate that the same rules would apply for Under-15 (U15) BISAC in Season 3.  Further details will be made available at the beginning of that season.

Our first internal Panther Tennis Tournament — open to all ISB students — will take place on September 21, as a prelude to the BISAC tournament.

On behalf of the Parent Tennis Committee (PTC), we bid you a good and successful season of tennis.

With best regards,

Alina Eddy & Sandy Mora
Joint PTC Chairs

Who: Grades  3 – 8 and  Grades 9 – 12

Where:  ISB Track

Cost:   6,000 baht, INCLUDES:  15 weeks of instruction, registration fee, and uniform.

Volunteering:  2 times per season or 1,000 baht

With ISB’s track and field gold medal, at IASAS last Spring, and the success of Panther Paws Track and Field, we are proud to present the official Panther Track and Field Team at ISB.

On September 4th the official Panther Track and Field team will start a full season of training with professional coaches focused on all areas of track and field skills.  Participants will be a part of a team but improvement will be measured by their own personal performance.

Training sessions will be held for 15 weeks, on Wednesdays, from 4:30 -6:00pm at the ISB track.  It is a great way to develop skills if you want to compete in the school’s track and field programs. Even for those not intending to compete it will be a great way to learn new skills, exercise, and make new friends.

The coaches will teach different disciplines in track and field (e.g., high jump, long jump, hurdles, shot put, javelin and sprints). During the season, there will be several track meets that will help participants gauge their progress. We will also try to have meets with different schools in the future.

Come and join us, for what promises to be a fun season full of track and field experiences!
