Class Placement for 2013/14

Your child’s class placement is provided in alphabetical order.  We are very much looking forward to welcoming children to a new school year next week and having them continue their learning adventures.

Some background on the class placement process at ISB
Class placement is a comprehensive and detailed process to which we devote considerable thought and time, in the belief that productive and positive classroom experiences help student learning.

There are many factors to consider when determining class placement. Some of these include:

Gender:  We strive for close to equal numbers of girls and boys in each class.

English Proficiency: We distribute students into classes based upon their level of English proficiency to ensure a balance fluency levels within each class.

Learning levels: Students are grouped into classes reflecting a range of current learning levels.

Nationality: We seek to create classes that reflect the cultural diversity of our student population.

Social-emotional Factors:  We consider behavioral needs, maturity levels and friendships when creating classes.

Thank you for supporting your child by speaking positively and excitedly about the school year ahead and their class placement.  It promises to be a wonderful year.
