Dear Parents,
After the success of last year’s ISB Summer School production, School House Rock, Jr., this year we will be offering another Musical Theatre Camp featuring the Broadway hit musical, Guys and Dolls, Jr.. The course is open to all grade 4 through grade 8 students and runs for two weeks (or one*), from June 10 through June 21. Please read below for more details. Here is a sample of one of the songs from the show, “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat.”
MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP (Grades 4-8)
This course is open to all grade 4 through grade 8 students with an interest in musical theatre. There are no prerequisites and everyone is welcome. If you are a shy student, an intermediate-advanced EAL student or an experienced music or drama student, there will be a place for you on our team.
The daily workshops will focus on singing, acting, and movement culminating in a public performance to be held the final day of the course, Friday, June 21. The class will emphasize self-confidence building through the Performing Arts. By creating a safe atmosphere where students feel comfortable, students will challenge themselves to work on their:
- English Language Skills
- Voice Projection
- Non-verbal Communication
- Presentation Skills
In addition, students will also be empowered to develop:
- A better knowledge of good teamwork.
- A more creative approach to learning.
- A greater understanding of the feelings of others.
- A greater awareness of the Musical Theatre art form.
All students will enjoy a daily 30 minute recreational activity focused on personal interaction, friendship building, problem-solving and healthy fun. Students needing to develop both Math & English proficiency may request a special split program including components of both subjects. (Inclusion in either Math or English class is contingent upon enrollment).

Summer school courses are specially designed to build on students’ previous learning and prepare them for greater success in the upcoming year in Grades 4-8.
*Students may sign up for the first week only.
Note – All courses include a daily 30 – minute recreational activity time in which the emphasis will be on interaction, team-building and fun.
