Teachers are finishing the last units in their courses and are starting or will start soon to review for the finals.  Encourage your child to take good notes and attend all review sessions in preparation for final exams.  If your child has questions about how to best prepare for the exams, please encourage them to see their teachers and counselor for ideas.

Course Selection Confirmation  On Monday, grade 9-11 students will receive a print out indicating which courses will appear in their schedule for next year.  If there are questions about the schedule, please ask your child to see his/her counselor.  The schedule will be base on the requests submitted by students earlier in the year.  The master schedule is being created based on these requests so changes to courses (including electives) will be limited.

PTA Presentation  Thank you to those parents who attended the meeting on Wednesday, 15 May, to find out about how the counselors will best support applications to universities in North America next year.  There was a lively discussion on Wednesday night during which the ISB administration and counselors answered parent questions. The powerpoint that was presented can be found here: https://inside.isb.ac.th/hscounseling/sample-page/.  Just click on the “Counselor Presentation at PTA May 2013” to see it.  The high school counselors are working with universities in the US to confirm that our students will submit authentic applications that represent their own achievements and essays.

Are you Moving?  If you know that your family will be moving after the end of the school year, please contact your child’s counselor and the HS registrar. There are several forms that must be completed before the child can be checked out of school.  The check out must be completed before final transcripts can be sent to you and/or receiving schools.

ISB Summer Internship  The Summer Internship Program starts with workshops on resume building and interview skills.  Students, who want to take part in the program, must attend these two programs.  These sessions will take place on Monday, May 27, and Wednesday, May 29.  You’ll learn a lot!  See Khun Mai in the High School office to choose your preferences for a summer internship.  Specific positions are given to those who sign up and pay for the program on a first come, first served basis.  Ask Mr. Callahan if you have any questions.

Parent Workshop

Dr. Jom, from Marek Clinic, will conduct a workshop Sunday the 30th of June 2013. The workshop will be in Thai and the topic is “Tips to raising a happy and successful child in the changing world”. The talk will be at JW Marriott Sukhumvit soi 2, and it will run from 9:00am – 4:00pm. This event is hosted by the Arrowhead Training and Development (ATD) team. We feel that this workshop will be useful for most Thai parents in International Schools as well as Thai schools. Interested parents and participants are to register or contact the ATD for more information. They can be contacted on
02-314-6291 or event@atd.co.th . Their website is www.atd.co.th.

SeniorsAre deeply involved in their IB exams.  The counselors send their best wishes to the students!

Transition is just around the corner:   Seniors – there are two days of transitions activities, May 23 and June 5.  On May 23rd, students will arrive at 7:20 and have planned activities during the day.  This will be a stress-free, fun day at school where they learn about what to expect in the next phase of their lives and spend the day with friends.  Gate passes will be suspended for the day so all seniors will be on campus to enjoy the sessions, senior lunch and fun! June 5th is for Senior Breakfast, Grad Panel and graduation practice.  Both days should prove to be fun and exciting.

Juniors:

Junior Seminar #4: Was done last week.  A few students who were absent or on study leave were unable to attend. The make up session will be on Monday, 20 May at 2:10 in room 203. Please check with your child to find out if he/she already attended or needs to attend the make up session.

Junior Conferences: Junior Conferences should have been completed by this time. Juniors should be doing their research to find the schools that they feel most fit their needs for further education.  Some students will be going on university visits this summer and should check information in their University Application Handbook to maximize their experience during a visit.

SAT preparation: Remember, Juniors may practice for the SAT for FREE using Prep-Me on Naviance.  The directions for that (which you may want to share with your son/daughter) are:
