TRIPLE P – POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM

Posted on March 22, 2013 by Tina

The Triple –P (Positive Parenting Program) provides ideas and opportunities to develop parenting skills. The program is suitable for all parents wanting to learn more about how to encourage their child’s development, improve their relationship with their child and learn ways to manage everyday concerns.

I am intending to start this program In April for parents of children in Prek – Gr  2.  The program will run for 5 weeks of   face-to-face sessions of approximately one and half hours each week.

I am hoping there will be enough interested parents to proceed with the program. Unfortunately I cannot offer childcare so you would need to organize care for any little ones.  It is important that everyone be able to concentrate and participate fully in the program without distractions.

There are limited places available, the group will only consist of 10-12 parents so please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to attend.
(Dates – April  2nd,  9th, 30th,  May 7th and 14th.  Time 12.30- 2.00pm )
Parents will need to commit to attending all five sessions to gain the benefits from the program. Each session builds on the skills presented in earlier sessions. There will be a cost of approx. 1,000baht to cover a parent workbook, which you will be able to keep and use as a reference.

If you are interested in attending this program, please return the slip below to Khun Kunlawan at the counseling office (in the elementary office) as soon as possible.   Parents will be notified by me if they have a place in the program.

I hope to see you there,

Carmel Kean, ES School Counselor, ISB

Annual Staff Appreciation Lunch
March 26, 2013
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The staff at ISB have been working hard all year to make this school a great place for our kids to learn. To show our appreciation, the PTA hosts an annual “Staff Appreciation Luncheon” with food prepared and served by parent volunteers.

This year the luncheon will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2013. We need an abundance of food to feed over 425 hungry ISB employees (teachers, administrators, and all the support staff that make the school run successfully). Several food dishes are needed from every classroom to make this a success.

Sign up here!

Please keep in mind the following guidelines:

1.    Each dish should serve 12 people.
2.    Dishes should be delivered between 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m on Tuesday, March 26th to the MPB at the top of the zig-zag.
3.    Dishes should be in reusable containers, and labeled with the owner’s name on it, teacher’s name and classroom number. The labeled containers will be delivered to the classrooms following the luncheon. Any unlabeled containers will be delivered to the PTA Office after the luncheon and can be picked up as soon as possible.  Please pick up containers by April 5th.  All unclaimed items will be donated after that date.
4.    Please do not use styrofoam.
5.    Please keep in mind that all dishes will be served at room temperature as we do not have heating and cooling facilities.
6.    Please label all dishes and if it contains meat.
7.    Please remember, NO NUTS!

Book Donation

Posted on March 22, 2013 by Tina

On April 25 and 26 the Fifth Grade will be holding its Annual Used Book Sale.   We are proud to be one of the main contributors of donations to Mercy Centre, found in the Klong Toey Area of Bangkok. They use this money to send children to school and to run educational programs.

However, in order for this to be successful, WE NEED YOUR HELP!   While you are spring cleaning over the next few weeks, could you please look for books and magazines to donate?

Books to Donate
Children’s books
Young Adult books Fiction and Non Fiction
Adult Fiction and Non Fiction
Appropriate magazines

We also had a small section last year of Kids Toys that sold like hotcakes!  If you have any games that you no longer play (with all of the pieces J), you could donate them as well.

We have a box already in place outside of the ES Office.

Thank you for your assistance!
