Spirit Night this Friday – Cancelled

by Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

It is with disappointment that we have to cancel this Friday night’s spirit night. We were unable to find suitable competition with our BISAC partner schools as many of the schools were away this weekend or unable to play due to other reasons. Due to the full calendar we will not be able to re-schedule this event.

Many thanks for all your support.

Are you leaving ISB in June? Do you need school records for your child(ren)’s next school?  Parents of students who are not returning to ISB after the end of our 2nd semester need to notify the the division secretary in which your child(ren) is enrolled (ES, MS and/or HS) and complete the attached Notice of Withdrawal Form to enable us to process school records for their next school.

We thank you for your prompt attention to this important matter.

To show our appreciation, the PTA hosts an annual “Staff Appreciation Luncheon” with food prepared and served by parent volunteers. This year the luncheon will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2013. We need an abundance of food to feed over 425 hungry ISB employees (teachers, administrators, and all the support staff that make the school run successfully). Several food dishes are needed from every classroom to make this a success. Sign up here!

The labeled containers will be delivered to the classrooms following the luncheon. Any unlabeled containers will be delivered to the PTA Office after the luncheon and can be picked up as soon as possible.  Please pick up containers by April 5th.  All unclaimed items will be donated after that date.

Do You Own A Hotel?

by Kerry Dyke
kerryd@isb.ac.th

Consider joining the Hotel Blue List and help protect sharks by not serving shark fin soup.

ISB Green Panthers are working with NGO’s, celebrities, other Bangkok International Schools, and hotel owners in a campaign called FIN FREE.  A few days ago 5 shark species and 2 rays were finally given protection rights at the CITES (Convention of International Trade of Endangered Species), and our campaign is helping even more.  We are trying to take SHARK FIN SOUP of the menu of hotels and even restaurants.  We are hosting an event at ISB on April 22 whereby hotel owners can actually officially sign the pledge to join the Blue List meaning they will not serve shark fin again.

To join the event please sign up here

The 14th Annual Colgate Kids Triathlon is just around the corner.   The race will take place on Monday, May 6th (ISB holiday) at 7:30AM starting at the two ISB pools.

It’s shaping up to be an incredible event!  Again this year the triathletes will receive timing chips to wear around their ankles for accurate time and distance recording.  The Relay Race will again allow relay teams in each age division (based upon the oldest participant in the relay team), so athletes can form teams of three people to participate together.  One of the relay team members can be a teacher or other adult this year.

The distances this year will be:

•  5-6:  50m swim, 1 km bike, 450m run
• 7-8: 100m swim, 2.5 km bike, 800m run
• 9-10:  150m swim, 4.5 km bike, 1.2 km run
• 11-12: 200m swim, 4.5 km bike, 1.7 km run
• 13-14: 250m swim, 6.8 km bike, 2.4 km run
• 15+ : 350m swim, 9.1 km bike, 3.1 km run

Registration and other information will follow in the few weeks.  But please mark your calendar with this year’s triathlon date.  Our website can be found at https://inside.isb.ac.th/cao/2011/08/16/colgate-kids-triathlon/

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Faculty Follies DVD

by Kerri Fitzgerald
kerrif@isb.ac.th

If you missed attending our rather silly show you might like to see it on DVD –  on sale 200 THB  at the Arts & Activities Office on the mezzanine floor in the CC building (just go over the bridge and turn left). There are just 54 DVDs left and we think we will make it to 60,000 THB for our cause: the Queen Sirikit Breast Cancer Center.
