Annual Human Growth and Development Program for Grade Five Students
The Elementary School will present its annual Human Growth and Development Program Monday evening, March 4th, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, in the Chevron Theatre.
This informational program is designed to open channels of communication between 5th grade students and their parents as the students begin their health unit on puberty. It includes video and panel presentations, interaction, and sharing while focusing on the physical, social, and emotional factors involved in pre-adolescence.
Coaches Corner
Thinking About Our Thinking
Metacognition is a word you hear a lot around ISB, and it is a huge part of the learning that we value. In its most simple terms, metacognition is ‘thinking about your thinking’. Join our ES Technology and Learning Coach, Sarah Fleming, as she digs deeper into the concept of directing, monitoring and evaluating thinking, and how you can support your child as they develop their habits and attitudes in order to learn. We will discuss ways that you can support your child’s metacognitive growth and explore ways technology can facilitate it. You may even do some thinking about your own thinking! Join us on Thursday, March 7th from 7:30-8:30 in the ES MPR.
Grade 2 Music Open House on March 7
The Grade Two students would like to invite their parents to a “music open house” next week on March 7. In this time students will share with you the work that they’ve done in their recent music unit entitled “Recycle Rhythms” where students studied instrument construction and reading/writing rhythms.
The performance will be held in the ES MPR on March 7th at the following times:
12:45-1:25 – Ms. Chirignan, Ms. Giles and Ms. Rogers’ class
1:25-2:05 – Ms. Arnold and Ms. McAloon’s class
We hope to see you there!
Ms. Sandmann and Ms. Jordan

After School Activities are well underway. A list of ASA locations remains posted outside the ES office for your reference.
There are limited spaces available in some of our ASA. You can still register but don’t delay! Remember once the ASA schedule begins there are NO REFUNDS however you may change your ASA choice once it is before the third session.
Livnat Ziskinder, our After School Activities Coordinator, is in the office daily from 1:30pm – 3:30pm if you have any questions or concerns.
Book Donation
On April 25 and 26 the Fifth Grade will be holding its Annual Used Book Sale. We are proud to be one of the main contributors of donations to Mercy Centre, found in the Klong Toey Area of Bangkok. They use this money to send children to school and to run educational programs.
However, in order for this to be successful, WE NEED YOUR HELP! While you are spring cleaning over the next few weeks, could you please look for books and magazines to donate?
Books to Donate
Children’s books
Young Adult books Fiction and Non Fiction
Adult Fiction and Non Fiction
Appropriate magazines
We also had a small section last year of Kids Toys that sold like hotcakes! If you have any games that you no longer play (with all of the pieces J), you could donate them as well.
We have a box already in place outside of the ES Office.
Thank you for your assistance!
