Matt Glover Visits ISB Elementary
Matt Glover, author of Already Ready , Engaging Young Writers and most recently, Projecting Possibilities for Writers, will again be visiting the elementary school on the week of January 28th. Matt is truly talented in the way he is able to connect with students and through that connection, determine students’ strengths and areas of concern. With this information in mind, he is able to meet students where they are at and move them forward. Teachers from PK, KG, 1st and 2nd grade will be witnessing his techniques and practicing themselves while participating in labsites throughout the week. Matt will be working with the entire staff in deconstructing texts and offering 3 different Instructional Aide trainings. On Thursday, Matt will spend time with interested parents, talking about reading like a writer and its role in supporting children at school and home. We hope you can join us.

Hats/Water Bottles
We are concerned with the number of children playing in the playground or going to P.E. without hats. Water bottles are also essential for P.E. Please encourage children to bring their hats and water bottles everyday.
ES Parent Education Workshop
Math Strategies Across the Grades
Please join our math coach, Suzanne Sizemore February 7th in the ESMPR to enhance your understandings about the math strategies your child is developing at school. You will have an opportunity to watch videos of students sharing strategies and discuss ways in which you can support your child at home.
We look forward to seeing you in the ESMPR on Feb. 7th from 7:30am -9:00am!

This Semester’s After School Activity programme will begin on Tuesday February 26th.
The following are some important dates for you to note in your calendar.
· Friday, February 1st– Activity Listing & important registration information to be found in your child’s Friday folder. For viewing and registration go to https://inside.isb.ac.th/parentportal/esasa and click “Activities booklet” link. Registration will be online and you will get a conformation to your email which must be printed and included with your payment.
· Monday February 4th – Thursday February 7th, 7:30 – 3pm, submit your payment along with your form in the Community Activities Office (next to the nurse / bookstore).
· Friday, February 15th – ASA confirmation will be sent home in your child’s Friday Folder.
· Tuesday February 26th – ASA Begin!
HONK Jr.
Our Musical, Honk Jr. will be performed on Wednesday, February 20th, 3:00 pm, 6:30 pm and Thursday, 21st February, 6:30 pm – a slight change from the originally published dates, to allow families to make full advantage of the Maka Bucha Holiday weekend.

The IFF is in two weeks (Feb. 9, 4:00-7:00 pm). It is going to be a great time for everyone with 20 different countries providing food and over 40 games for all of us to have a blast! There is a raffle and a silent auction with fabulous prizes. But what we need is YOU! We are only half way there with volunteers! We only need 1 hour of your time to help at games, sell tickets for food and games, or just sit and chat with a buddy at the silent auction table! The games are easy, just take tickets and do crowd control! EASY!
PLEASE consider volunteering! If you can’t….sign up your husband! Your teenager! They need something to do to keep them out of trouble!

Mother-Daughter Sock Hop Dance

Get your poodle skirts and bobby socks ready for Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The Girl Scouts is sponsoring a 50′s Sock Hop dance, which will be open to ALL mothers and their daughters at the ISB MPR’s. Ticket sales will begin in early February and the cost will be 1,200 Baht per couple.
Using the Playground
Families are welcome to use the ISB playgrounds after school hours, with supervision. However, during the school day from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, the playgrounds are to be used only by students for scheduled recess. This includes the PK/Kinder playground. After 1:00 PK dismissal, the playground should only be used by Kindergarteners for their scheduled recess. Your cooperation is appreciated.
