TEDxYouth event Ticket Information Update…
Tickets are expected to be in hot demand for this prestigious event. Please collect an assigned (free) seat ticket from the Activities Office on Monday or Tuesday, thereafter from the cafeteria at lunchtime. A supper will be served at interval.
Following is the original article as published in yesterday’s ISB eNew:
On January 24, 2013, ISB will host its first ever TEDxYouth event at 6:30 p.m. in the CCT. Nine Grade 11 speakers will each give a five-minute talk on an idea centering on the night’s theme--Catalysts for Change. The special event will be recorded and uploaded to the TEDx Youtube channel.
As part of a unit in Grade 11 English classes on Language and Power, all Grade 11 students conducted research and delivered their own TED talk in front of their peers. Each English class then selected one speaker whose topic and delivery most impacted them. Topics included human trafficking in Thailand, milk production in rural India, technology’s impact on our relationships, social media concerns, and being a reflective learner. The wide range of topics and the students’ enthusiasm for the project prove that ISB students are curious, passionate and open-minded. The ISB High School English faculty is proud of their students’ work and looks forward to the event.
Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?
The New Year brings new things, even to the Cafeteria. We have kick started the first week back at the HS/MS Kitchen with our debut of ‘Worldly Wednesdays‘. Each Wednesday the Live Station will feature a cuisine from a different part of the world, with some months repeating the most popular menus. This week was Mexico, offering Chicken Chimichangas, Bean & Cheese Enchiladas, Homemade refried Black Beans, Black Bean Cilantro Rice, and Roast Vegetables with Tomato Salsa, Coriander Yoghurt and fresh limes to top it all off. Next week we’re firing up the grill for Texas BBQ (yes, Texans do consider their state to be an own country:-)), followed by a different kind of Italian for the Wednesday after that. Menus will vary in price from 85B-100B, which will allow us to be a little more creative and flexible with the ingredients. Furthermore, keep your taste buds tuned to the Organic Omelet station, which will soon feature some additions there as well. Welcome Wednesdays! Enjoy.
