Please check out our HOME LEARNING tab found through our Parent Portal. We have many resources on the HOME LEARNING LINKS if children want to explore or are looking for something to do over break. One of the best things children can do is to read, read, read!
ES New Parent Orientation—Second Semester
Parents of Elementary School students, who are new to ISB, are invited to attend the New Parent Orientation on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at 7:30 am in the ES MPR (the big room behind the Elementary School office). See you there!
Coaches Corner: Matt Glover Visits ISB ES
ISB Elementary is in for a real treat the week of January 28th. Matt Glover, author of several books about literacy and most recently, Projecting Possibilities for Writers, will again be visiting the elementary school. Matt is truly talented in the way he is able to connect with students and through that connection, determine students’ strengths and areas of concern. With this information in mind, he is able to meet students where they are at and move them forward. Teachers will be witnessing his techniques and practicing themselves while participating in labsites throughout the week in PK, KG, 1st and 2nd grade classrooms. Matt will also be offering a parent workshop. We hope you can make it.

When: Thursday, January 31st from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m.

Wrapping paper from birthdays or any other type of gifts.
Plastic bags of any color.

ES ‘Out of Uniform’ Day—January 17 and 18, 2013
These two days are ‘Out of uniform’ days in the Elementary School. On PE days, students need to wear their PE uniforms. On their non PE day, students may choose to not wear their ISB uniform.
Appropriate dress guidelines for our ‘Out of Uniform’ days are:
· Pants/slacks/shorts—good condition
· Shirts/blouses—sleeves & midriff required, appropriate logos only
· Skirts/dresses/jumpers—sleeves required, modest length
· Shoes—sneakers, street shoes or leather sandals with back strap
· Hats must be worn all the time when playing outside during recess or during PE classes
Leaving ISB at the End of the First Semester?
Do you need school records for your child(ren)’s next school? Parents of students who are not returning to ISB after semester 1 need to notify the ES Office, K. Tina (tinaratr@isb.ac.th) and fill out the attached Notice of Withdrawal from ISB Form to enable us to process school records for their next school. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Every holiday and special occasion has a foundation built on traditions. The majority of these traditions are centered around food. Especially when we think of a New Years Eve Celebration, many traditions around the world include food which symbolizes Luck, Prosperity, Health and Good Fortune. A few examples of items on the Menu may be: Pork- it brings good luck and possibly fortune. If you are not a meat eater, any other treat in the shape of a pig may do the same thing; Fish Scales or any dish with fish symbolizes Silver, a precious metal; Bread or Cakes with trinkets baked inside, those who are lucky enough to end up with the trinket are the recipient of good fortune; Eating 12 Grapes at the stroke of midnight is a good luck forecast grape for each month; Eating long, uncut noodles on New Years equals a long life.
