Message from the Principal

As the semester comes to a close, and the holiday season approaches all of our students are coming to the end of an intense semester. Intense in the sense that they have been working hard in so many arenas  – academic – athletic – creative – social – emotional – for many weeks with little rest or break. I certainly hope that this holiday allows them to change some of these routines, spend some quality time with family, spend some time at a more relaxed pace and spend some time reflecting upon what they have learnt about themselves this last semester.

If you have yet to visit the ISB High School Facebook page I recommend it, it gives you a quick overview of the semester. Enjoy…

On behalf of the High School faculty and administration I wish you all a peaceful and safe break.

Sincerely
Philip Bradley

Happy Holidays

As first semester comes to a close, congratulations to all of our students for working hard, finding balance, and providing service to others.  Regularly, I find myself so proud of our High School students with how they look after each other and look to improve their world.  Their teachers have dedicated themselves to ensuring the best learning.  Everyone deserves a restful break.  All the best to you and yours.  See everyone in 2013!

First Day of Semester 2

The first day of the second semester is January 14th.  HS students will report to their Comm Groups to pick up their schedules for the semester.

Possible Schedule Changes
Dennis Harter
dennish@isb.ac.th

In general students retain the same schedule for second semester.  In some cases, due to changes, semester courses, or other factors, a student’s schedule changes for next term.  In these cases we do the best we can to keep the same teachers for each student.  Students will be informed of schedule changes on the first day of school.

dennish@isb.ac.th

PowerSchool access will return for parents and students on Monday, December 24th.  Families with outstanding fees, missing materials, or unresolved payment issues will not be given access until the issue(s) is/are resolved.

TEDxYOUTH
Kerri Fitzgerald

On January 24, 2013 ISB will host its first ever TEDxYouth event at 6:30 p.m. in the CCT.  Nine Grade 11 speakers will each give a five-minute talk on an idea centering on the night’s theme–Catalysts for Change.  The special event will be recorded and uploaded to the TEDx Youtube channel.

As part of a unit in Grade 11 English classes on Language and Power, all Grade 11 students conducted research and delivered their own TED talk in front of their peers.  Each English class then selected one speaker whose topic and delivery most impacted them.   Topics included human trafficking in Thailand, milk production in rural India, technology’s impact on our relationships, social media concerns, and the benefits of drinking green tea.  The wide range of topics and the students’ enthusiasm for the project prove that ISB students are curious, passionate and open-minded.  The ISB High School English faculty is proud of their students’ work and looks forward to the event.
