ISB Middle School Theatre Sports Competition 2012

By:  Mr. Huxtable

On the 15th of November at 3pm in the Cultural Centre Theatre in the New Arts Building, Middle School Drama will be holding the next Theatre Sports Competitions.  For those of you who do not know, “Theatre Sports” are acting games where the performers play theatre games in front of an audience without any planning.  Each game has rules and a time limit.  Teams are challenged to use all their powers of creativity and teamwork to work together and produce a surprising and entertaining set of improvisations.

On November 15th at 3.00pm there is the Performance Final, with the winning team lifting the ISB Theatre Sports Trophy.

Tickets are only 50 baht.  All money raised goes to the “Operation Smile” charity.  Donations are also gratefully received.

The Theatre Sports “Festival of Ideas” is a lot of fun and the audience is normally amazed at what these talented students can do on stage under pressure.  Come along and cheer for a team!

ISB Email Etiquette

Following is a list of email etiquette guidelines to help us all maintain a high professional standard:

  • Take another look before you send a message: Check to whom you are sending the email to, and that the content is appropriate.
  • Keep messages brief and to the point.
  • Use of CC field: Use CC to keep people in the loop (FYI), do not use the CC for criticisms, this is best done “face to face”.  If you are CC’d in a conversation, there is no obligation to reply.
  • Use “Reply All” judiciously.
  • Reply in a timely manner.

Finally don’t forget the value of face-to-face conversations.

Sincerely,

Chad Bates

Cafeteria News…Did You Know…?

Glorious Kale and Morning Glory…Why should you be eating these wonder veggies?  The First and Best Reasons Are:  they are local vegetables grown in Thailand, and are quite a hardy plant all on their own. Therefore they are automatically drastically reduced from the sprays of chemical pesticides even without the ‘organic’ label, because they ward off the unwanted guests mostly on their own!  Now for the other reasons:  They are extremely high in Anti-oxidents, full of Vitamins K, A & C, Rich in Minerals such as Iron and Calcium (offering even more calcium than milk!) It is proven that a diet full of vegetables not only boosts your immune system, but also reduces your risk of muscular degeneration, obesity and certain cancers.  Good News is they are offered on a regular basis for lunch in the HS/MS Cafeteria- please watch for them!  Enjoy.
