IB and AP results for May 2012
Congratulations to our Class of 2012 and all exam takers in May, as you will see below the results were tremendous and all our students performed exceptionally well across all IB and AP subjects! Well done!
200 ISB students took one or more IB diploma courses culminating in the May 2012 examinations, with over 600 different exams being sat. The hard work and dedication of the students and their teachers resulted in 96.5% of the scores being 4 or higher and 82% of the results were scores of 5 to 7, with 7 being the maximum. These statistics included both 11th and 12thgrade students who took IB exams with the average score over our 31 subjects, including Higher and Standard level was a very pleasing 5.44 points.
Given these strong grades our IB Diploma students achieved a 96% pass rate with 57 diplomas awarded compared to the world average of 78.16% across approximately 50 000 worldwide candidates. Our diploma scores ranged from 28 – 45 points, where 24 is the minimum, compared to the world average of 29.83. The ISB average points score is over 6 points higher at a staggering 36 points and included 15 students who achieved scores of 40 points or higher with one of our students achieving a perfect score of 45 points; one of only 109 worldwide. Every diploma awarded is a celebration and acknowledgement of a student’s individual endeavors over the past two years and the support of their parents, families and teachers. Our students and their teachers should be very proud of this achievement.
The summary table of the May 2012 results and list of 40+ point students will be available on the high school IB webpage very soon.
As the IB program continues to expand it is very encouraging to see a comprehensive segment of the ISB student body enroll in the IB program and achieve success. This achievement is testament to the determination and perseverance of all the diploma students to their studies and other IB components.
A further 22 of our students took one or more AP examinations across a variety of subjects with 27 examinations in all. The results were very pleasing with 63% achieving the maximum score of 5 and 81.5% a score of at least 3.
It is a wonderful achievement to complete your high school academic program and these results clearly indicate that our ISB graduates are well equipped to progress in the next phase of their learning journey with confidence and direction. Congratulations firstly to the students for their outstanding achievements and also to those who supported them throughout their time in the HS, our dedicated teachers and administrators plus the parents and families. It is a collaborative effort that leads to such outstanding outcomes.
