Purple Rice at the Cafeteria?  Did my eyes see correctly?  They sure did!!  In celebration of Earth Week, a brand new type of organic and very nutritious rice was introduced to the Cafeteria.  Jasberry Rice is an innovation directly from Thailand –  it is 100% Organic, 100% All Natural, 100% Whole Grain.  Because it has been left in it’s natural state, unlike regular white rice which is milled over and over again, stripping it of its color and therefore nutrients and taste, the color and nutrients of Jasberry Rice remain, making it a very nutritious rice to eat.  And to top it all off, it contains natural antioxidants from the black seed it is merged with!  To introduce this rice, we mixed it with the white rice, yet because they are boiled together, the nutrients, antioxidants and purple color from the Jasberry Rice seep into the white rice as well, creating an overall much healthier, colorful and sustainable rice to consume!  Did the kids eat it?  After some initial hesitation of the ‘new look’, many tried it and realized they liked it!  We are excited to announce that this option will continue throughout the year, however, the kids need to ask for it as it is not served automatically, for only 5 Baht additional. Enjoy!
